Chapter 553: Chapter 569 Relentless Confession (20)

Percy Stanton’s familiar voice made Isabel Smith’s brooding heart instantly dissipate like smoke in thin air. Her lips curved up unconsciously, and she said softly to her mobile phone, "On bed."

After saying that, Isabel realized that at this late hour, her words seemed more of a tease or hint. She blushed fiercely and quickly tried to explain, "I’m going to bed."

Percy chuckled softly, "Isabel, I didn’t think too much about it."

His laughter sounded so indulgent, making her heart race and her mouth become dry. She swallowed nervously and asked with a slight tremble in her voice, "Have you arrived?"

"Yes, just finished my work," Percy replied. Sensing his answer was too simple, he added, "After getting off the airplane, I rushed to the Hyatt to meet with the two clients from France. Only now did I have a break and wanted to call you, but then you sent a text message."

Although his explanation sounded plain and had no substantial content, it made her mood soar and warmth envelop her. With an unconscious touch of happiness on her face, she softly responded with a hum into the phone.

Perhaps neither she nor he had noticed that at this moment, they were like a couple in love, with one on a business trip and the other one checking-in, followed by a detailed explanation.

She felt like a girl experiencing her first romance, her whole being filled with feelings and emotions as if being part of a poignant, alternatingly sad and joyful poem.

Isabel waited for a while for Percy’s response. At a loss as to what to say next, she bit her lip, wracked her brains, and blurted out the question she didn’t even realize she had been anticipating, "When will you come back to Bellshire?"

With his mood becoming inexplicably comfortable and relaxed, Percy slowly walked out of the elevator at the Hyatt Grand Hotel. As he passed the Great Hall, the corners of his lips were upturned.

The hotel receptionist, seeing the newly appointed CEO of Thompson Empire Group smiling and looking very pleased, instantly felt relieved and relaxed.

As Percy stepped out of the main entrance of the Hyatt Grand Hotel, he paused for a moment before speaking in a tender voice into the phone, "Isabel, do you miss me?"

Isabel’s face reddened instantly, and a thin layer of sweat formed in her palms due to nervousness.

Although Percy wasn’t there, she felt embarrassed and overwhelmed. Dropping her head, she was about to hum in agreement when suddenly a seductive female voice came from his end of the call, "Mr. Stanton, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time."

That familiar voice made Isabel’s heart turn cold instantly.

It was a voice she could recognize even if she turned to ashes.

What was Evelyn Osbert doing in Ravenwood City so far away? Moreover, why did she say to Percy, "I’ve been waiting for you for a long time"? Those words were so ambiguous...

The warmth that had just arisen in Isabel’s heart vanished without a trace. She felt her entire body turning cold, as if her blood had frozen. A wave of uncontrollable sadness welled up in her heart, causing her great pain.

Not waiting for Percy to speak, she lifted her hand and hung up the phone with a snap before turning it off decisively.

...

Thousands of miles away, Percy listened to the busy tone on the phone and looked up to see Evelyn Osbert, dressed in an elegant long skirt, smiling at him with soft eyes.

Percy frowned and then dialed Isabel’s number again.
