Chapter 551: Chapter 567 Relentless Confession (18)
Isabel Smith went into the supermarket to buy some items, and the man also entered the supermarket. The supermarket was quite large, and Isabel encountered the man face to face several times while inside.
The supermarket was not far from where Isabel lived, and she didn’t buy much, so she decided to walk home carrying her groceries. Along the way, she passed a cake shop, and on a whim, she decided to have something sweet, so she went in and picked out two cakes.
Through the brightly lit window of the cake shop, Isabel inadvertently caught a glimpse of the man she thought looked familiar out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head to take a closer look, but aside from a fleeting black figure, she couldn’t see the somewhat familiar man she thought she saw.
Isabel frowned and quickly paid for her items before hurrying out of the cake shop.
Isabel deliberately stood on Main Street, looking around for the man she thought looked familiar, but still couldn’t find him. She finally concluded that she must have been seeing things.
It must be because she’s been so busy with work these days and the pressure has made her sleep poorly, causing these hallucinations.
Isabel felt speechless at herself for a moment before continuing her leisurely walk home.
When she got home, Isabel whipped up a quick meal for herself and went to bed early to catch up on sleep. However, she woke up in a groggy state, unsure of the current time.
Isabel checked her mobile phone and saw that it was only around 10 PM. Then she unlocked the phone and found that there wasn’t a single text message or phone call reminder from a certain someone.
Feeling a bit deflated, Isabel kept checking her text messages and call history for another 10 minutes, but there was still no news from Percy.
These days, even though she hadn’t met him in person, he would usually give her a call whenever he had some free time, even if they didn’t have anything important to talk about.
However, this had gotten Isabel into the habit of occasionally checking her phone.
She couldn’t even believe it herself how this habit developed in just a few days, which made her feel anxious as she stared at her phone without any updates for over four hours.
Later on, Isabel was checking her phone every three seconds, rolling her eyes and eventually staring at it unblinkingly.
As time slowly reached 11 PM and her phone remained silent, Isabel could no longer stay in bed calmly.
Even if he had to rush back to Ravenwood City for an emergency, he must have some time to catch his breath after so many hours, right? In the past, even when he had just half a minute to spare, he would call her just to chat idly. How could he be so quiet today!
Isabel sat up on the bed indignantly, intending to call Percy. But when she pressed the call button, she hung up and decided to send him a text message instead.
She bit her finger as she thought for a while, then wrote a message: "Did you safely arrive at Ravenwood City?"
After writing it, Isabel felt it seemed a bit too wordy, so she changed it to: "Have you arrived yet?"
This way, it seemed as if she wasn’t overly concerned. Satisfied, Isabel nodded her head and sent the text message.
...
Percy hastily arrived at Ravenwood City International Airport at around 7 PM.
As soon as he stepped out of the airport, the employee in charge of Thompson Empire Group’s French cooperation project came to greet him.
"How’s the progress on the documents and contracts?" Percy asked while walking to the pick-up car.
"Mr. Stanton, everything is ready, but we still haven’t determined the highest quotation we can afford." The employee answered Percy’s questions while opening the car door for him.
Percy bent down and got into the car, then said to Raymond Thompson, who was standing by the car door: "Raymond, you go back to the Thompson Family Estate in the car behind first, I have some work to deal with."
