Chapter 533: Chapter 549: To Leave or Not to Leave? (14)

Percy Stanton clenched his teeth, persistently made another call, finally got through, but Isabel Smith on the other end of the phone remained silent.

Percy held his mobile phone, pacing back and forth in his bedroom. He took two deep breaths and then angrily questioned: "Isabel Smith, how dare you kiss me and then leave so easily?!"

After Percy shouted out those words, he not only felt the anger in his heart hadn’t lessened but intensified. He closed his eyes and sternly said to the woman on the phone, "You just wait!"

He was clearly agitated and repeated, "Just wait!"

After saying that, he didn’t wait for Isabel to respond and hung up first.

Isabel stood at the entrance of the airport, listening to the beeping sound of the call being disconnected from the mobile phone. She looked up at the clear blue sky of Bellshire. The news that Percy Stanton is the CEO of the Thompson Empire Group still felt like a dream to her.

Isabel put away her mobile phone, pulled her suitcase, and walked towards the taxi. After taking a few steps, her mobile phone in the pocket rang again. It was still a call from Percy. She answered it and then heard Percy’s voice, still filled with the residue of his anger. "Isabel Smith, I’m flying back to Bellshire tomorrow. My flight arrives at 12 pm. I’ll come to find you as soon as I arrive!"

Percy paused, his tone growing harsher. "If you dare to make yourself difficult to find, just try!"

Again, without waiting for Isabel to respond, Percy hung up.

...

When Isabel returned home, it was already 12 pm. She had eaten in-flight meal on the airplane and didn’t feel hungry now. As nobody had been at home for several days, there was a bit of dust in some places. So, Isabel started cleaning up.

As Isabel was crouched on the floor wiping, she kept thinking about Percy being the CEO of the Thompson Empire Group. She shook her head hard, trying to forget about it through overworking. But ultimately, when she sat panting on the carpet, she found the thought still lingering in her mind!

Just as Isabel was feeling like she was about to go mad, her mobile phone suddenly rang. She got up, walked over to the bedside, and saw that the call was from George Vincent.

Isabel paused before picking up. Then George Vincent’s always gentle and gentlemanly voice came from the phone, "Isabel, where have you been these days?"

It took Isabel a while to answer, "I had some work in Ravenwood City, so I went there."

"Okay." George Vincent didn’t ask her why she wasn’t present on the engagement day, but simply said, "Do you have time for lunch tomorrow? We can meet for a meal."

Isabel thought about the call Percy made at the airport and frowned. In the end, she agreed, "Okay."

"I have something to do tomorrow morning, so I may not be able to pick you up. Let’s meet directly at the Deer Pavilion noon tomorrow."

"Okay."

...

The second day, Isabel didn’t go to work. She got up from the bed at 10:30 am. Even though it had only been a day and a night since she discovered the truth about Percy Stanton at the Grand Restaurant in Ravenwood City, it felt as distant as a memory from many years ago.

Isabel looked at the time after changing her clothes. It was 11:30 am. Thinking about Percy who would reach Bellshire at 12 o’clock, she decided to head to Deer Pavilion early.

Isabel went downstairs and hailed a taxi at the roadside. But just as she raised her hand to open the car door, her wrist was suddenly tugged, and the next second, a chill voice sounded by her ear, "I’m sorry, driver, you can pick up other passengers."

Isabel turned her head and saw Percy standing there with a sullen face. She tried to shake off her hand, but Percy held her even tighter.
