Chapter 516: Chapter 532 How long until you remember me? (7)
Isabel clenched her teeth, persevering for one hour. She finally caught sight of the mountaintop, and an unprecedented sense of conquest and accomplishment welled up inside her. Even the fatigue she had felt just moments before vanished without a trace. Isabel climbed faster, as if invigorated, and somewhat jokingly said, "This mountain isn’t tall enough. I barely climbed, and I’m already at the top."
It’s almost as if the saying, "If you don’t look for trouble, it won’t find you," was true.
For the first time in her life, Isabel tried to claim that she didn’t care. But as soon as these words left her mouth, a little boy came barreling down the mountain, seemingly not noticing Isabel and heading straight for her.
Isabel instinctively dodged to the side, having a close call. Just as she was about to say, "That was close," her foot slipped on a bare rock, causing her to twist her ankle. In an instant, her face turned pale.
Isabel had twisted her ankle many times before, and each time, the pain would go away after loosening the ankle. But this time, it seemed very serious. She felt that her ankle was not her own, and she nearly burst into tears from the pain.
"Isabel!"
"Sister Isabel!"
Percy and Raymond arrived one after the other, with Percy reaching out to support her body and asking, "What’s wrong?"
Raymond lifted his little hand, grabbing her trembling hand due to the pain, nervously opening his red mouth and saying, "Sister Isabel, what’s wrong with you?"
Isabel felt cold sweat cover her entire body, and when she saw Raymond’s almost tearful face, she forced a smile and said, "It’s all right... I just accidentally twisted my ankle."
As she spoke, her body shuddered in pain.
Percy furrowed his brow, looked around, and then anxiously squatted in front of Isabel, carefully hoisting her onto his back and carrying her up to the mountaintop.
Percy found a clean, smooth rock and gently seated Isabel on it. Then, he squatted in front of her and reached out to hold her ankle.
"Percy, be gentle..." Isabel’s ankle felt another wave of pain as he touched it, and she clenched her teeth, giving a light cry.
Startled, Percy quickly released Isabel’s ankle, staring at it anxiously.
Raymond nervously clutched Isabel’s hand, looking at Percy helplessly and asking, "Father, what should we do? Sister Isabel looks like she’s in so much pain!"
Hearing Raymond’s words, Percy was a bundle of nerves. He clenched his teeth and said, "Isabel, bear with it. I have to see if your foot has broken any bones."
With that, Percy carefully untied Isabel’s shoelaces. His movements were very gentle, and he seemed to be holding his breath the entire time.
Raymond became inexplicably anxious, gripping Isabel’s hand tightly and swallowing saliva continuously.
As Percy removed Isabel’s shoes and socks, Raymond continued to mutter, "Father, be gentle... Father, look how pale Sister Isabel’s face has become... Father, slow down..."
"Father... Sister Isabel’s ankle is so swollen..."
Percy looked at Isabel’s swollen ankle – which had become as large as a meatbun – and was at a loss for what to do. He wanted to stretch it out but was afraid of causing her more pain.
Raymond stood aside, crying out for help, "What should we do, Father..."
Seeing her own swollen ankle, Isabel was at her wits’ end and asked Percy, "Could my bone be broken?"
