Chapter 504: Chapter 520: So It Was Him (25)
School starts at eight o’clock, and it’s only half an hour away. Raymond Thompson estimated the time and thought he might be late, so he refused to eat breakfast and insisted on having the driver take him to school right away.
After a morning meeting at Thompson Empire Group, Percy Stanton returned to Thompson Family Estate by car just in time to see Raymond puffing out his cheeks and shaking his head, refusing to eat.
"Mr. Stanton." The servant who was coaxing Raymond greeted Percy respectfully.
Percy jingled the car keys in his hand, glanced at his son, and asked the servant, "What’s wrong?"
"We called Young Master all morning, but he didn’t wake up until 7:30. Now he doesn’t have time, and Young Master insists on not eating breakfast and going to school. But, Young Master is growing now, how can he not eat breakfast?"
Percy glanced at the nutritious breakfast on the dining table and said indifferently to Raymond, "Go eat breakfast."
Raymond hesitated and shook his head, unwillingly, saying, "I’ll be late."
Percy glanced at the floor clock in the living room, fifteen minutes short of eight o’clock, and commented lightly, "Regardless of whether you eat this breakfast or not, you’ll be late anyway. So, just be good and go eat. Don’t be both late and hungry, that’s foolish behavior!"
Raymond’s mouth immediately puckered up: "Father, I can skip school, after all, the teachers in Ravenwood City wouldn’t know if I don’t go, they would just assume that I’m going to school in Bellshire..."
Percy stared fiercely at Raymond, who instantly fell silent, instinctively taking a step back, waiting for Percy’s lecture.
But before Percy could say anything, his mobile phone rang.
Percy glared fiercely at Raymond one more time and pointed to the breakfast on the table, then stepped aside to answer the phone.
"Marion Hancock, guess who I just saw downstairs at our company?"
Hearing John Quincy’s excited voice on the phone, Percy guessed without hesitation, "Isabel Smith."
"Heh... do I really make it that obvious?" John Quincy muttered to himself, saying, "She came all the way from Bellshire to Ravenwood City; what a good excuse. Wouldn’t you invite her to dinner?"
"Where is she?"
"At the shopping mall opposite our company. Can you invite me when you have dinner? I promise I’ll just watch and not make a sound..."
Percy didn’t say anything more and hung up the phone directly. He then looked up and glanced at Raymond, who was still pouting and refusing to eat breakfast. After a moment’s thought, he said, "If you don’t want to go to school, then don’t. As you said, the teachers in Ravenwood City will just think you’re attending school in Bellshire."
Raymond looked at Percy with some astonishment, full of disbelief, and blinked his big eyes, asking, "Really? Father?"
"Mm." Percy mumbled ambiguously and sat down on the sofa, "Hurry up and eat, and after eating, I’ll take you shopping."
Raymond’s mouth immediately turned into an O-shape, and he ran to the window to see if the sun still rose from the east. With a puzzled look, he scratched his head, not understanding why his father was being so nice to him today as if he was a different person.
Raymond is, after all, a child. If he couldn’t figure it out, he simply didn’t think about it. He turned and ran to the dining table, quickly finishing breakfast as if afraid Percy would change his mind the next second. Then he climbed down from the chair and ran to Percy, saying, "I’m done."
Percy put down the newspaper in his hand, looked at Raymond, and initially wanted to tell him that they were going to the shopping mall to see Isabel Smith. However, he then figured that if he said that, Raymond would surely insist on taking a bath, grooming himself, and changing clothes, which would be too much trouble!
Suddenly, Percy stood up with a bland expression and said, "Let’s go."
