Chapter 495: Chapter 511: So It’s Him (16)

Evelyn Osbert turned her head out of curiosity, unexpectedly seeing a familiar face she hadn’t seen in a long time among the gentlemen.

Evelyn raised her hand to fix her hair, turned around and walked gracefully to Percy Stanton. She smiled with a curve of her lips and spoke softly, and melodiously, "Mr. Stanton, long time no see."

Percy stood leisurely in front of Evelyn, scanning her up and down, without saying a word.

Tony wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but he felt like his boss’ demeanor seemed somewhat aloof and annoyed in the presence of this stunning woman.

Thus, Tony, who was good at reading people, immediately imitated his boss and put on a stern face, remaining silent.

At the bottom of his heart, however, he felt that this behavior was somewhat disrespectful.

Evelyn also felt that her attitude towards Percy was somewhat contradictory. She despised him for having no power, influence, or money, yet she couldn’t help but wanting to get close to him. She continued to speak, "Mr. Stanton, where have you been working since you left the Smith Corporation?"

This time, Percy still didn’t speak, and just stepped towards the Bellshire Grand Hotel.

Unexpectedly, after taking no more than two steps, Evelyn reached out to stop him, "Mr. Stanton, I’m really sorry, but today is my cousin’s engagement banquet, and you can’t enter without an invitation."

Percy raised his eyebrows, looked at Evelyn’s arm blocking his way for a few seconds, then took a step back. He raised his hand and suddenly began to undo the buttons on his suit jacket.

His movements were elegant and leisurely. Despite it being just a suit jacket, the image was quite pleasing to the eye.

After undoing the buttons, Percy gracefully removed the suit jacket and tossed it carelessly to Tony behind him, "It’s filthy; throw it in the trash can!"

It was immediately clear to those in the vicinity—including a few doormen and security guards—what Percy’s action implied: he thought Evelyn had dirtied his jacket when she touched it, so it had to be thrown in the trash.

Evelyn had never lost face like this in front of doormen and security guards before, and her face immediately turned white, then green, upon witnessing the scene.

Tony held the jacket that was suddenly tossed into his arms and glanced at Evelyn’s chameleon-like expression. He couldn’t help but gasp, thinking about how much the jacket was worth before holding it and actually throwing it into the trash can.

Evelyn had been feeling somewhat depressed lately because of Isabel Smith’s engagement to George Vincent. Finally encountering Percy, she had wanted to chat and lighten her mood a bit. However, he’d put on such an ugly show that she now took a deep breath, gritted her teeth, and raised her accusing finger at him.

Percy slightly leaned back, speaking casually, "Miss, I have only one shirt left, and I don’t want to throw it in the trash can too. So please, don’t have any physical contact with me. I’m really not interested in you."

Poison... such a poisonously cruel sentence... Tony stood by, listening to these words, and secretly praised his boss in his heart.

Unable to contain their laughter, the nearby security guards and doormen chuckled before hurriedly lowering their heads in embarrassment.

Unchanged after all these years, still utterly contemptuous... Evelyn’s face turned red with anger as she stared at Percy. Her initial intention to greet him had vanished completely, replaced by pure hatred. She raised her chin haughtily like a proud princess and sneered at Percy before saying, "Mr. Stanton, you really have a sense of humor. I have no interest in you either. I just wanted to let you know that today, this restaurant is closed to ordinary people."

Percy couldn’t help but frown, looking at Evelyn incredulously, as if not understanding what she was saying, "Miss, I’m really sorry, but I don’t understand. Could you explain what you mean by ordinary people?"

Standing in front of Percy, Tony nodded vigorously. Although he was just a Thompson Empire Group assistant, even among his peers, he was highly sought after. He had never been looked down on like this before.

"Does Mr. Stanton really not understand?" Evelyn sneered with a disdainful look in her eyes, as if the gap between her and Percy was exceptionally significant: "It means that the Bellshire Grand Hotel has been booked for a private event today, so Mr. Stanton will have to miss out on this occasion."

"Hehe..." Percy laughed as if he had heard a funny joke, looking up at the grand hall of the Bellshire Grand Hotel. Speaking lazily, he said, "Miss, you’re wrong; it’s not that I’m not connected, but if I want the land beneath my feet, I can have it whenever I want. The only pity is that I don’t like it here at all!"

Evelyn’s face flushed red; she looked at Percy as if she had heard the funniest joke in the world and laughed.

Could this A-loving man really be standing in front of her, proudly saying that he doesn’t even look at the prime location near the Forbidden City?

Evelyn’s laughter made Tony frown and glare unhappily at the disrespectful woman in front of him. He couldn’t help but speak, "Friendship reminder, Miss: be careful with the words you say."

"Really?" Evelyn raised her eyebrows, unconvinced, and laughed. Without taking Percy or Tony’s warnings seriously, she retorted, "Anyone can talk big, but it’s hilarious that Mr. Stanton would claim he could have the Bellshire Grand Hotel if he wanted it. This is the funniest lie I’ve heard this year. Mr. Stanton really has no shame. I even say that the Forbidden City next door is mine! Hehe~"

Accompanied by Evelyn’s mocking laughter, Percy also chuckled lightly, his face showing no sign of anger at her previous words. Glancing at Evelyn, he put on a carefree expression and turned to look at Tony.

Tony promptly took out his mobile phone and made a phone call as he walked away.

When Tony hung up and returned, Mrs. Smith rushed out of the Bellshire Grand Hotel with her mobile phone in hand. As she walked, she said, "Alright, Mayor Oscar, don’t worry; I’ll go check the door right now. Rest assured, rest assured... Thank you, thank you!"

Once the call ended, Mrs. Smith stood at the door.

Evelyn immediately bowed respectfully and called out, "Grandma."

Mrs. Smith didn’t even look at Evelyn, but stared incredulously at Percy before stammering, "St-Stanton... How come it’s you?"

Percy maintained his noble and elegant stance and nodded slightly to Mrs. Smith with a faint smile on his face, speaking lightly, "Chairman Smith."
