Chapter 492: Chapter 508: So It’s Him (13)
Pausing for a moment, Isabel’s tone softened, "Isabel six years ago could genuinely love you passionately, but Isabel six years later, really has no right to talk about love anymore."
As Isabel said this, she slowly closed her eyes, the teardrops at the corners of her eyes gently falling onto Percy’s shirt, wetting it, and seeping into his skin.
A long, long time passed without Isabel speaking again. The room was quiet, and Percy, who seemed to be asleep on the bed, slowly opened his eyes.
Two clusters of flames danced in the depths of his always beautiful and profound eyes.
He was actually never asleep. He was just lost in thought about those missed opportunities and suddenly heard Isabel calling him. Before he could respond, he felt her fingers touch his eyelashes, and he held his breath and stopped moving.
The next second, she was lying on his chest, chattering incessantly.
Those secrets hidden deep inside her heart and the questions perplexing him were suddenly laid bare before him, as clear and unmistakable as the tide.
Percy stared at the extravagantly decorated ceiling for a long time before he gently lifted his hand, carefully lifting the sleeping Isabel and placing her on the other side of the bed. Then, he stood up and stared at her sleeping face for a while, extended his hand to pick up the quilt and covered her with it, silently leaving the room.
Percy walked all the way to the Rose Garden in front of Whitehall Cottage, got in the car, stared coldly at the view outside the car window for a while, then took out his mobile phone from his pocket and made a phone call to the assistant he brought with him to Bellshire.
"Mr. Stanton."
"Tony, help me check now how many people hold shares of Smith Corporation, and then, in the shortest time, buy up all those shares."
"Yes, Mr. Stanton." Tony paused, then asked another question, "Mr. Stanton, should I continue to handle the matter you mentioned this morning?"
"Do it!" Percy threw out a single word without thinking.
"But, Mr. Stanton, I have already checked, Terrence Wood and his wife are just ordinary people in the Capital and have not done anything heinous. Moreover..."
"If they haven’t done anything heinous, can’t you create a situation where they’ve done something heinous?" Percy’s tone was slightly cold, cutting off Tony’s words, and then leaning back against the car seat with a somewhat chilly demeanor, his voice coming out without any warmth, "Those who touch my people must pay the price."
"Yes." Tony agreed while secretly complaining in his heart, how could there be such a man in this world, doing things so impeccably that others can’t find any flaws, yet secretly playing such dirty tricks!
As Percy hung up the phone, it seemed like he suddenly remembered something, and said, "Tony, Terrence Wood is one of the shareholders of Smith Corporation, and he does have shares in his hands... Um... Like this, you wait until he’s discharged from the hospital, and when he’s discharged, bring him to me, and let’s talk."
Tony was startled and quickly stifled the complaints in his heart, and volunteered, "Mr. Stanton, whenever you need me, I can bring him to you right now to discuss purchasing shares."
"No need, wait till the day he’s discharged, let him go for the sake of the shares in his hands. But remember, the moment he walks out of the hospital, immediately bring him to me."
While Percy was giving orders, he thought, he could avoid the death penalty but not the suffering. He had just been discharged from the hospital, hadn’t he? He must be in a good mood, so Percy was determined to send him back to the hospital for another stay!
"Yes."
Percy nodded in satisfaction, then realized that Tony couldn’t see him, so he broke his usual habit and hummed in acknowledgment.
