Chapter 484: Chapter 500: So It’s Him (5)
"Mr. Stanton hasn’t gotten married yet?" Someone laughed twice and asked incredulously.
"Yeah...didn’t you know?"
"No, I remember Mr. Stanton has a son who’s already a few years old, so I thought he’d gotten married a long time ago."
Sitting next to Percy, Isabel couldn’t help but secretly find it amusing: Turns out men also have the potential for gossip.
Upon hearing this, Percy lowered his eyes, picked up his wine glass, and downed its contents in one gulp.
The female waiter standing behind Percy quickly came forward to refill his glass. As she poured the wine, she slightly bent towards him, revealing her beautiful collarbone, and with a smile of unknown intent, said: "I also thought Mr. Stanton was already married."
Percy glanced at the waiter’s beautiful collarbone then quickly shifted his gaze away. He subtly leaned back and responded with a noncommittal smile.
A man sitting directly across from Percy raised his glass and said, "Mr. Stanton, I’ll drink first as a toast to you."
Percy waited for the waiter beside him to reluctantly step back before he straightened up, put away his smile, and drained the glass of wine in one breath.
As he put down the wine glass, the toasting man casually asked: "So, Mr. Stanton, is there someone in your heart now?"
Then he raised his glass to Isabel.
Isabel quickly picked up her wine glass, but before she could drink, Percy suddenly reached out and took the glass from her fingertips. Lazily smirking at the toasting man, he said, "She’s had enough to drink. I’ll drink this for her."
After saying that, he drank the wine first.
The toasting man wanted to say "That’s not enough," but seeing Percy drink twice and seem apologetic about it, he swallowed the words he was about to say, and changed the subject: "Mr. Stanton, you’ve always had a good alcohol tolerance, never getting drunk with a thousand cups."
In fact, Percy’s alcohol tolerance was indeed good, and he didn’t drink much today, but now he felt slightly tipsy. Isabel was sitting next to him, and her faint fragrance wafted towards him from time to time, entering his nostrils and stirring his emotions. This made him restless, and his mind started running wild with thoughts about how it had been two months since they’d last made love.
Making love was easier to restrain before it became a habit, but once faced with a beloved woman after having had a few drinks, it became difficult to keep oneself under control.
After hearing those words, Percy slowly shook the wine glass he had taken from Isabel’s fingertips, then poured himself another glass.
He didn’t lift the glass to drink just yet.
Someone nearby jokingly reminded him: "Mr. Stanton, that’s Miss Smith’s glass."
Percy looked down at the glass, thinking of the lip prints on it just now, and how he vaguely tasted her lips and tongue. His expression softened, and he stared at the glass, saying lightly: "It’s okay, I like using this glass. It has the taste left by the woman I love."
Isabel and Percy had been together for half a year and had shared countless meals and sleeps, so she didn’t take that joking remark to heart and her expression hadn’t changed much.
But the next second, when she heard Percy’s words, her mind went blank as if she’d been put under a spell- the taste left by the woman I love...
She had used that glass to drink, perhaps leaving her lipstick or saliva behind...
Along with Isabel’s wild thoughts, her delicate face suddenly flushed a bright red.
Stunned by Percy’s words, those around them paused for a moment before their laughter resumed and they continued chatting.
