Chapter 482: Chapter 498: So It’s Him (3)
Isabel Smith nodded, then it suddenly dawned on her that the ’Ella’ Elijah referred to was her junior - Ella Adams.
Percy Stanton watched as Elijah Smith and Ella Adams disappeared from sight, before slowly turning his head to look at Isabel Smith standing in front of him and asked, "Do you have anything later?"
Only then did Isabel Smith check the time. It was almost noon, and it took Elijah a whole morning to settle his matters. She was about to say that she had a meeting in the afternoon when Percy Stanton interjected in a seemingly nonchalant manner, "They helped Elijah a lot today. I’m planning to treat them to a meal. So, you should come along too."
The words that were on the tip of Isabel Smith’s tongue were suddenly swallowed back inside her stomach at his words. She nodded and said, "Okay."
...
Isabel Smith had thought that the dinner would be held at some upscale restaurant in the city. But when everyone got into the car and drove out of the city, she finally realized that they had actually chosen a holiday manor in the suburbs of Bellshire.
The holiday manor was not far from the city. Isabel Smith had been here before but she did not know there was a holiday manor here.
Moreover, this manor looked a bit peculiar. From the outside, it was surrounded by high walls, like a prison. The only entrance was tightly closed until a middle-aged man came out of a small pavilion beside the entrance when their car arrived. He ran to the car, asked a few questions, and then the door opened, letting the cars in one by one.
Upon entering the manor, Isabel Smith realized what it meant not to judge a book by its cover.
This was no ordinary holiday manor, but rather, a paradise on earth. Despite being past Spring Festival and still cold in Bellshire, there was such a lush environment with roses of all colors blooming everywhere. At the roots of the flowers, every few meters apart, there was a lit furnace with several attendants continually adding coal.
Seeing Isabel Smith’s puzzlement, Percy Stanton turned towards her and explained in a seemingly indifferent manner, "This is a government institution and is usually not open to outsiders. This manor, also known as Rose Manor, grows all the different varieties of roses in the world."
Isabel Smith listened, a little amazed. As a local of Bellshire, she had never known that such a magical world existed here.
The car slowly drove past the rose garden and finally stopped in front of a white building.
The group got off the car, and an middle-aged man with several beautiful female waitresses immediately came out to welcome them, courteously leading them into a private booth inside.
The private booth had a beautiful name, "Willow Valley".
The service here was top-notch.
There were eight people seated around the dining table, and there were eight waitresses serving them.
Each waitress recorded the dishes and preferences of the person they were responsible for.
The waitress serving Percy Stanton seemed to know him, and she occasionally chatted with him as he browsed the menu.
"Mr. Stanton, it’s been a while since your last visit."
"Mr. Stanton, what would you like to eat today? We have new dishes. Would you like to try them?"
Percy Stanton, however, didn’t respond much. He sat lazily in his chair, one hand resting on the back of Isabel Smith’s chair, and the other leisurely flipping through the menu. After a long while, he casually pointed at some dishes on the menu saying, "This one, this one, and...this one."
Finally, he turned his head and asked Isabel Smith sitting next to him, "What would you like to order?"
