Chapter 479: Chapter 495: You Promised I Still Have You (37)
Percy went into the bathroom, picked up the mouthwash, raised his head and gulped down two mouthfuls. Then he took a razor and shaved the stubble on his chin, grabbed two wet wipes, and wiped his face casually. He took his car keys and wallet and left the house directly.
"It’s the police station next to Frangipani Road."
"Hmm." Percy responded, checked the time on his wrist, estimated, and said, "I’ll be there in about twenty minutes. Don’t worry. Just wait for me there."
... .
Isabel has never begged anyone in her life, nor will she ever degrade herself to do so.
She watched Joseph Wood’s wife leaving, her heart anxious, but the soft words just wouldn’t come out of her mouth. She just reached out her hand, grabbed Joseph Wood’s wife’s wrist, and since she had no confidence in herself, her words came out weak too: "Mrs. Wood, one million, I’ll give you one million, let’s settle this privately."
"One million? Miss Smith, you are quite generous." Joseph Wood’s wife laughed: "Do you think my husband and I need this one million?"
"Two million."
Joseph Wood’s wife didn’t say a word, just threw off Isabel’s hand.
"Five million."
With an expressionless face, Joseph Wood’s wife walked two steps forward and was about to leave the police station when she seemed to remember something. She turned her head toward the police inside, and said, "Please handle this beating case properly."
Then, she reached out her hand, ready to push the door open and leave.
"Mrs. Wood—" Isabel subconsciously went forward, reached out her hand, and grabbed Joseph Wood’s wife’s clothes, making a desperate struggle.
"Aren’t you just... annoying?" Joseph Wood’s wife seemed to have run out of patience, her voice high and sharp as she yelled at Isabel.
Joseph Wood’s wife’s words were only halfway out when the door in front of her was pushed open by someone from outside.
And the second half of her sentence slipped out: "Annoying..."
Then came Percy, accompanied by the high-level officials he had gathered over the twenty minutes of driving.
Isabel would’ve never thought that one second ago she was being yelled at by Joseph Wood’s wife, and the next second she looked up and saw Percy.
He was wearing a simple light-colored sweater, his skin as white as jade, his face slightly cold, exuding an untouchable air of elegance and composure; behind him were several men in suits.
Isabel subconsciously let go of the hand grabbing Joseph Wood’s wife’s clothes.
Percy had always thought that only Ella and Elijah were here. He didn’t know when these two had gotten involved, but because it was about Elijah, he didn’t ask any questions and rushed over to handle the situation.
Although it was about Elijah, he knew deep down that it was only because Elijah was Isabel’s younger brother.
At the entrance of the police station, he met Ella, who was anxiously pulling him inside, talking about Elijah non-stop without mentioning Isabel.
However, when he pushed open the door, leading a group of high-level authorities from Bellshire City into the entrance of the police station, he suddenly saw Isabel standing not far from the door.
His gaze was instantly fixed on her, sticking to her like glue, unable to move.
Isabel saw Percy staring at her like that, and she couldn’t help feeling nervous. She thought Percy had heard her being scolded by Joseph Wood’s wife. Blushing, she lowered her head and stepped back awkwardly.
