If it weren’t for your grandfather’s excellent relationship with George’s grandfather back then, this marriage wouldn’t have been possible."

Isabel understood the implication. It meant this marriage was her reaching above herself to marry George. If she rejected the idea, she’d be seen as unreasonable.

Isabel hesitated for a while before gently saying, "Grandma, George and I have just met, and we’re not familiar with each other. Isn’t it too early to talk about marriage?"

"Isabel, feelings can be fostered slowly after the engagement as you both get to know each other. If you want to return to Smith Corporation and assert your authority, George is a good choice.
