Chapter 451: Chapter 467: Promised I Still Have You (9)

"Oh." This time it was George Vincent’s turn to say only one word, and then he fell silent again.

Just as Isabel Smith hesitated about whether or not to start a conversation, her mobile phone suddenly rang in her bag. She took out her mobile phone, saw it was a call from Percy Stanton. She had planned to answer the call, but accidentally pressed the wrong button on the keyboard.

As if seizing the perfect excuse, she said to George Vincent in front of her, "I’m sorry, I need to return a phone call."

Before her voice had faded, her mobile phone beeped as it received a text message. It was from Percy Stanton, asking her where she was.

Isabel Smith decided not to get up and replied directly: "What’s up?"

About half a minute later, another text message came in: "Yeah, there’s something on. Where are you? I’ll come pick you up."

Isabel Smith raised her eyelids, glanced at George Vincent sitting opposite her, then lowered her eyes again. She thought for a bit, slowly pressed a few keys on the keyboard and said, "I’m in Naverwood City."

The text message quickly replied again, "Where in Naverwood City? I’ll come pick you up."

"Miss Smith, do you have something urgent to attend to?" George Vincent saw that Isabel Smith had been using her mobile phone constantly and couldn’t help but speak up, breaking the silence between them.

Isabel Smith was texting Percy Stanton: "Pick me up at the entrance of Nexus Mall in Naverwood City."

Then she looked up, smiled apologetically at George Vincent, and said with a slight air of inconvenience, "Mr. Vincent, I’m really sorry. I have a friend who needs me at the last minute, so I may have to leave first."

"That is really inconvenient." A touch of regret flashed through George Vincent’s eyes. Then he paused and suggested, "Miss Smith, where did you arrange to meet your friend? Why don’t I take you there?"

Isabel Smith had been considered pretty since she was a child. Although she wasn’t the type who could easily see through people, perhaps her experience of being pursued by various men when she was young gave her a natural sensitivity towards men, allowing her to sense something subtle.

Isabel Smith frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and said, "Mr. Vincent, I don’t think that’s necessary."

"Did Miss Smith drive here herself?"

Isabel Smith shook her head, "There’s a Metro station not far ahead."

"Then I’ll take Miss Smith to the Metro station." George Vincent made the decision himself, raised his hand, and rang the service bell. Soon, a female waiter wearing a beautiful cheongsam came in, beaming at George Vincent and Isabel Smith, "Sir, Miss, how may I help you?"

"Check please." George Vincent said as he pulled a wallet from the pocket of his suit. Isabel Smith recognized the wallet at a glance. It was a limited edition CUCCI wallet produced at the end of the year, worth a pretty penny.

The waitress glanced at the menu and quoted a five-digit price.

Without changing his expression, George Vincent took a gold card from the wallet, handed it to the waitress and said, "Swipe the card, please. No password required. Thank you."

"Alright, sir, please wait a moment." The waitress respectfully accepted the gold card, turned around, and walked out.

George Vincent looked at Isabel Smith with a shallow smile, glanced at the mostly untouched dishes on the table, and said, "We are from a Walesh family, who later moved to Bellshire. We made a mistake in choosing the dishes this time. Next time, Miss Smith can choose dishes she likes."

Isabel Smith really hoped there wouldn’t be another opportunity to have dinner together, but she still wore a seemingly demure smile and said, "Thank you."

Just as George Vincent was about to continue speaking, the waiter knocked on the door of the private booth again. The female waiter came in and handed George Vincent his bank card and an invoice.

Without even looking, George Vincent put his things away in his wallet, stood up, and walked ceremoniously to the nearby coat hanger, picking up Isabel Smith’s bag and coat.
