Chapter 439: Chapter 455: The Late Menstruation (17)

As she closed the car door, she caught a glimpse of Percy Stanton’s radiant smile and felt inexplicably annoyed. She leaned over and grabbed a bag of yogurt from the snack bag and threw it at him again before slamming the door shut and heading to the restroom.

Percy picked up the bag of yogurt that hit his chest and landed on his lap, taking a corner in his mouth and sipping it while watching Isabel Smith’s retreating figure. The corners of his lips curled up uncontrollably: Really... Isabel, this woman, why is she so insincere? She clearly cares about him but pretends not to, now that he’s caught on, she’s even angrily running to the restroom!

Thinking about it, Percy took two vigorous sips of yogurt, and the sour taste in his mouth turned a little sweet.

The car was parked not far from the restroom, and the cool night breeze hit Isabel’s face, making her feel particularly refreshed. When she got back in the car, she was no longer sleepy and began to play with the large bag of trinkets Percy had given her. Among them was a milky white, thin, and beautiful jade bracelet. Isabel loved it, so she put it on her wrist and admired it for a while in front of her face.

Percy, who was driving in front, glanced at her a couple of times through his mobile phone and then spoke, "That jade bracelet is definitely fake."

She knew it was counterfeit without him saying so, but his harsh comment was a bit annoying when she was feeling so pleased. Isabel lowered her hand and glared at Percy: "Why did you buy it then!"

"Because I saw you wearing it on your wrist and couldn’t bear to take it off.

She had no trouble letting go... Angrily, Isabel said to Percy, "I wasn’t reluctant to let go. I just thought it was nice. I didn’t buy it, did I? You did."

"Well, I bought it because I saw you liked it."

"You knew I liked it, so why did you say it was fake and ruin the mood?"

"I’m afraid you might think it’s a treasure and wear it to some banquet, and people will laugh at you."

"You—" Isabel didn’t quite know what to say. She had realized from the first time she returned to the Smith Family that this man could utter the most frustrating yet helplessly true words with the calmest attitude.

Isabel pouted and then angrily took the bracelet off her wrist and threw it hard at the front of the car: "I don’t want it!"

The bracelet wasn’t even real jade, at most, a low-quality stone that broke in two with a click upon impact.

Isabel hadn’t expected this thing to break when it hit the car’s genuine leather interior. She opened her mouth, saying, "What a rip-off! This is clearly just a broken stone, yet they asked me for 808 when I bought it."

"Huh... wasn’t it 520?" Percy turned his head and glanced at Isabel.

Why was the price he had asked for 300 less than the price she was asked for?

Isabel remembered that the jade seller was a middle-aged woman, and she opened her mouth feeling even more depressed.

Percy looked through the rearview mirror at Isabel’s troubled expression while suppressing his smile and focused on driving.

After getting out of the car to use the restroom, Isabel had only been momentarily invigorated by the cold air. Though she was drowsy again in a while, she dozed off, leaning against the car seat.

The road at night was much easier to drive on than during the day. In less than half an hour, Percy entered the city and drove towards the apartment where they lived.

He occasionally glanced through the rearview mirror at the sleeping Isabel and gradually slowed the car down.

However, even when driving slowly, there comes a time when the car has to reach its destination. When Percy drove into the underground parking lot of the apartment,
