Isabel Smith’s face still wore no smile, but it was a little more relaxed compared to her rigid look a moment ago. Her gaze rested on the big bag, yet she made no move to take it.

Percy Stanton did not show any sign of impatience. He kept his eyes on the road straight ahead, one hand controlling the steering wheel, and the other leaning back, holding the large bag, occasionally glancing at Isabel.

When Percy turned his head for the eighth time, Isabel finally stretched out her hand to take the bag.

Percy smiled at Isabel, then turned around and focused on driving.

After that, both remained silent. The car was quiet, filled only with the soft sounds of Isabel munching on the snacks Percy had bought, as she sat in the backseat.

Weary from a lengthy afternoon drive, Isabel felt sleepy sitting in the car. Her sleepiness intensified after filling herself up with snacks. Seeing through the rearview mirror that Isabel’s eyes were on the verge of shutting, Percy suggested, "Just take a nap. When you wake up, we should have reached."

As he spoke, Percy raised the temperature slightly inside the car.

Isabel took out her mobile phone and saw that it was nearly eight o’clock. Due to the nighttime speed limit, they were not moving very fast. They had been traveling for two hours, yet they were only halfway through. It would take more than an hour to reach home.

When Isabel set her phone down, she noticed the snack bag she herself had placed on the seat beside her, and then thought that Percy hadn’t eaten dinner yet, so she casually asked, "Aren’t you hungry?"

"Isabel, I’m not hungry." Percy twisted his head around, a smile in his eyes as he gazed at Isabel, "Thanks for your concern."

"Concern."

Isabel caught sight of the delight evident in Percy’s eyes. She found the word ’concern’ somewhat discomforting. It made her feel that she had spoken out of turn quite abruptly. She turned her head away instantly, pretending to sleep.

Percy turned his head again, glanced at Isabel’s face, and couldn’t help chuckling softly.

As Isabel heard his laughter, her mood worsened even more.

After a while, Isabel couldn’t help opening her eyes again. She straightened her lips and stretched out her hand to pat the back of Percy’s seat.

Percy quickly turned his head.

Isabel put on a stern face. She took a biscuit out of the snack bag and handed it to Percy, saying, "There’s a temporary rest stop coming up. I’d like to use the restroom."

Percy glanced at the biscuit in Isabel’s hand and considered what she had said. He couldn’t help letting a satisfied smile curl up at the corner of his lips.

Really... What kind of woman does this! Clearly, she was worried about him going hungry but pretentiously declared she needed to visit the restroom!

A surge of joy quickened Percy’s heartbeat as he drove the car into the temporary rest stop and blurted out, "Isabel, I truly am not hungry."

Isabel felt sorry that a grown man was on the road at past eight in the evening without having eaten dinner and still had to drive. Using the need to visit the restroom as an excuse, she casually handed Percy a box of biscuits.

To her, Percy’s hunger and her needing to use the restroom did not conflict.

However, Percy seemed to have misunderstood her, thinking that her excuse was a subtle way of showing care for him.

She was indeed concerned about Percy’s hunger, but his blatant reaction made her blush all over. Flustered, she raised the biscuit in her hand and angrily threw it at Percy’s handsome, smiling face.

Percy lifted his hand, dodged the biscuit aiming at his handsome face, and pulled up the corners of his lips into a slight smile. From the joy in his slightly slanted eyes, a hint of twinkling brightness radiated, "But Isabel, I will still eat the biscuit you gave."

This time, Isabel made no further move. She opened the car door and quickly got out of the car.
