Chapter 431: Chapter 447: The Late Menstruation (9)
As they went further into the suburbs, the air became fresher, and there were fewer people around. Gradually, Isabel’s uneasy mood began to dissipate. However, what bothered her was that Percy’s car remained at the same distance as before, following the car she was in.
After traveling for about two hours, they stopped in a well-known suburb of Bellshire. As it was winter in the north, there weren’t many places to visit and have fun. Given her situation, Isabel wasn’t fit for such activities either. She just wanted to find a quiet place to clear her mind, so she didn’t complain when the car stopped. Instead, she just said, "Thank you," and got out.
Isabel walked casually along the road for a while, and when she began to feel hungry, she found a farmhouse courtyard that seemed relatively less crowded and went in.
Although she was just one person, Isabel ordered two or three dishes. She happened to sit by the window. While waiting for her food, she turned her head in boredom, only to see a familiar car parking outside.
Isabel stared at the car for a moment before it was turned off. Then, the driver’s door opened, and Percy stepped out, one long leg at a time. At that moment, Isabel turned her head away, pretending not to notice him.
Percy discreetly entered the restaurant and intentionally chose a seat far away from Isabel. However, as she caught sight of his graceful figure out of the corner of her eyes, she could not help being drawn in.
The waiter handed Percy a menu, but he didn’t even glance at it. Instead, pointing at Isabel, he said, "I want exactly the same items as hers."
During the meal, though Isabel didn’t turn to look at Percy, she could still feel the weight of his gaze on her back as if it would bore two holes through her.
After the meal, Isabel called the waiter to pay. Once again, she was told that the payment had already been made. As the waiter spoke, he pointed to the seat where Percy had been sitting, only to find that he had disappeared.
Isabel forced a smile, took her money back, and walked out of the farmhouse courtyard.
Not knowing where to go, she continued to walk aimlessly along the road. Since the abortion, she hadn’t been able to exert herself too much, so after walking for a while, she hopped on a bus.
Once on the bus, Isabel realized it was heading to a temple.
With no specific plans to visit anywhere, Isabel decided to go to the temple with an open mind.
The temple was grand in scale. As soon as she stepped off the bus, she saw the street leading to the temple entrance lined with small vendors on both sides. Although Isabel had no intention to buy anything, she couldn’t help herself - she would approach the stalls to take something in her hand, look at it briefly, and then idly inquire about the price. Not surprisingly, the items, often of average quality, were far from cheap. In the end, Isabel only picked up items to examine, then put them back down on the stalls.
When she reached the temple’s entrance, she bought an entrance ticket and went in.
Just inside the entrance, there was a copper bell. All the visitors would touch it and circle around it three times to ward off bad luck and evil spirits. Isabel wasn’t a believer, but she followed the others’ example, circling three times. Percy, who had entered right behind her, did the same.
Inside, there was a pool filled with koi fish. This time, not minding the cost, Isabel bought a small bag of fish bait from a nearby stall. She scattered it into the pool, and then leaned against the white railings, watching the koi swimming back and forth. After lingering for a while, she continued into the temple. Percy stood not too far away, quietly watching until Isabel walked away. Then he followed, repeating everything she had just done.
