Chapter 419: Chapter 435: You’re Investigating Me? (17)
Behind her was the hospital, but she didn’t want to turn back, knowing in her heart that if she went back to the hospital, the doctor’s suggestion would be to abort her baby.
As Isabel thought about it, tears welled up in her eyes. She stubbornly picked up her mobile phone and called Percy again, but there was still no sexy greeting on the other end.
Isabel’s tears rolled down her cheeks as she wondered how Percy could be so heartless, cutting their ties so easily and completely!
She wiped her tears and tried calling Percy one more time with a glimmer of hope. As the power-off reminder rang again, Isabel could no longer hold back her tears.
She had Raymond’s phone number saved and hurriedly found it to call him, only for a shutdown reminder to greet her as well. She glanced at the time—it was already past nine o’clock, and Raymond was likely asleep. She wanted to send him a message on WhatsApp but realized he probably wouldn’t be able to see it.
Isabel suddenly didn’t know what to do, and her stomachache worsened.
For the first time in her life, she felt trapped with no options.
Clutching her phone, not knowing what to do, after some thought she began texting Percy, thinking if he had turned off his phone because of her calls, he would eventually turn it back on.
Isabel anxiously started typing on her mobile phone. In her panic, the sentences were somewhat incoherent: Percy, our baby is in a very bad condition... Please save her... Answer my call... I’m pregnant...
She sent several messages in a row, then held her phone quietly, waiting for a reply.
She didn’t know how long she would have to wait. Feeling cold, she thought about how she couldn’t let herself get too cold; the baby inside her would suffer. She stood up, looked around, and went to a tea restaurant.
She ordered a hot milk and sat in the corner on some soft sand, repeatedly unlocking her phone screen to see if any calls were coming in.
After an indeterminable amount of time, Isabel nervously sent Percy another text message: Percy... The baby is yours...
As she texted, tears streamed down her cheeks, smudging the phone screen. She wiped away her tears with her hand, her heart filled with regret.
The first time Percy called her back, she shouldn’t have pretended everything was fine for the sake of so-called pride. She should have told him everything. Even if everyone thought she couldn’t let him go because of the child, perhaps her child still had a chance to be saved.
Suddenly, there was a sound from Isabel’s phone. She hurriedly looked, but it was just a low battery reminder. She quickly rummaged through her bag and realized she didn’t have a charger. She asked the waiter for one and charged her phone, sending another two disjointed text messages to Percy while waiting.
Isabel didn’t drink a single sip of the hot milk she had ordered. The pain in her stomach subsided slightly, and she sat there quietly, her face tense, revealing her inner turmoil.
This was the most helpless moment of Isabel’s life. She could clearly feel the pain in her abdomen change from intermittent cramps to continuous aches, making her entire body tremble and her face pale. Yet she still refused to cry out for help from others.
She had to wait for Percy’s response and believed that as long as the child was in her stomach, the man who could save him from the brink of death could also save her child.
She couldn’t lose consciousness; if she did and was taken to the hospital, her baby would surely be taken from her...
Isabel stubbornly believed that as long as her child was inside her, there was still hope for survival.
