After speaking, Isabel Smith violently shook off Evelyn Osbert’s wrist, turned around without any hesitation, and walked towards the elevator.

Standing at the doorway of Mrs. Smith’s office, Evelyn Osbert looked at Isabel Smith’s retreating figure, pursed her lips, and finally turned her head away fiercely. It took her quite a while to adjust her mood before she knocked on the door of Mrs. Smith’s office.

Isabel Smith had worked with Joseph Wood, a shareholder of Smith Corporation several times. Their only private encounter was during a heavy snowfall in Bellshire a few days ago when Joseph gave her a ride home. Afterwards, their relationship remained lukewarm as before.

The annual meeting of Smith Corporation happened to be overseen by Joseph Wood. There was an "invitation of guests" segment, where most guests were high-level managers with close cooperation with Smith Corporation. As a member of the business department, naturally, some guests were Isabel’s partners. Hence, one weekend morning, Joseph suddenly called her, saying that he would send her some invitations for her to pass on to her honored partners.

Isabel Smith thought that she could get the invitations from Joseph in the company on Monday. However, Joseph informed her that he would be away on a business trip that night and would pass by her building by coincidentally, so he decided to drop the invitations off along the way.

Without suspecting anything, Isabel agreed. When Joseph called to say he was almost there, he asked Isabel to come downstairs to collect the invitations.

Less than 10 minutes after hanging up the phone, Isabel received a call from Joseph. She thought he would wait for her in his car, but when she went downstairs, she found him in the lobby of her apartment.

Upon seeing Isabel, Joseph immediately walked up to her and handed her the invitations. They didn’t say much, and Joseph took his leave.

As a courtesy, Isabel saw Joseph to the door of the apartment and watched him get into his car. Only then did she turn around and go back into her apartment.

Isabel Smith didn’t pay much attention to these two small episodes involving Joseph.

When she got home, she directly distributed the invitations to the partner guests.

Perhaps there had been too much trouble lately, and now that two good things had finally happened, Isabel Smith felt extremely satisfied. The thought that she could take away the Best Team Award that had belonged to Evelyn Osbert for many years during the annual meeting in two years made her feel extra good.

Isabel knew that the child in her womb hadn’t formed yet and knew nothing, but she still took out a children’s book she had bought online, listened to the prenatal music, and spent a leisurely weekend.

In the evening, she did some pregnant yoga and took some nutritional supplements before lying down in bed and dozing off.

During these days, Isabel Smith’s life was clearly luxurious and comfortable. However, this happiness barely lasted a few days, as all of it was utterly destroyed at Smith Corporation’s Annual Meeting!

Due to her pregnancy, Isabel Smith didn’t wear high heels. She chose a simple formal dress accompanied by a pair of wedge shoes with a slight heel. She appeared elegant and graceful. Coupled with her youthful beauty, she didn’t seem less charming than the other women who dressed up carefully.

Evelyn Osbert, wearing a sapphire blue dress and holding Sebastian Smith by the wrist, entered the venue. When she passed by Isabel, she turned her head and gave her a seemingly friendly smile.
