Chapter 402: Chapter 416: Overestimating Oneself, Underestimating Love (18)

Having set a reminder to call back at half past ten tomorrow morning, Isabel put Percy’s mobile phone on his bedside cabinet, turned, and left the room.

...

The next day, Percy Stanton woke up before nine o’clock.

The alcohol from the previous night made his head throb, and he had gone to bed without washing. The smell of wine on his body made him feel uncomfortable, so he lifted the quilt and went to the bathroom.

Before going to the bath, he pressed the call bell, summoning a servant to clean the room.

After soaking in a forty-minute hot bath, Percy felt refreshed. As he was shaving in front of the mirror, he suddenly heard his mobile phone ringing outside. He then instructed the servant who was changing the bedsheet, "Bring me my phone."

"Yes, Young Master." The servant responded and in less than a minute, there was a knock on the bathroom door. While continuing to shave, Percy opened the door, took his phone, and without looking at the screen, skillfully slid the keyboard and put the phone to his ear, saying "Hello."

After waiting for a while, there was no response, and the phone kept ringing. Percy frowned, took down his phone, and saw that it was a reminder.

When did he set this up? He had no memory of it!

Percy opened it suspiciously, and a line of text popped up: Marion Hancock, last night close to midnight, your dream lover called, and I answered for you. When I asked her what she wanted, she didn’t say anything. So I told her that you would call her back. Don’t forget to call her back today!

Dream lover... Percy hesitated for a second, then looked back at the call history to find that late at night, Isabel had indeed called. He froze in shock.

Why did Isabel call him late at night? Was there a problem?

Or did she encounter any trouble?

Some people, no matter how deep they try to bury their past, can never let go.

Just one missed phone call could trigger endless thoughts and excitement, and then the birth of a sudden hope.

Standing in the bathroom holding his phone, Percy stared at the phone number Isabel called from for several minutes. Finally, he put down his razor, not caring about the clean shave on one side of his face and the stubble on the other. He left the bathroom, told the servant in the bedroom who had just changed the bedsheet and was mopping the floor, "You can leave."

After the servant left, Percy closed the bedroom door, then walked around the room, ending up on the balcony. The sunlight was perfect, casting a light on the Thompson Family Estate golf course. People were there, mowing the grass, while others arranged precious flowers air-freighted from overseas in the sunlight.

The view from his room was excellent, and he could see the family’s flock of white pigeons flying in the blue sky, circling around the water fountain downstairs.

He had grown tired of these scenes as a child. But now, perhaps because of Isabel’s late-night call, he found them more charming than ever before.

Percy lazily rested on the white jade railing of the balcony, anxiously redialed Isabel’s number, and called her back.

Dial tone...

After ringing five times, the call was answered. Then the familiar soft voice that had been haunting him for days came through, "Hello?"
