Chapter 399: Chapter 413: Overestimating Oneself, Underestimating Love (15)
"The Royal Palace" is an old business under the Thompson Empire Group, a leisure venue that brings together all forms of entertainment, it has been managed by John Quincy for years.
It was still early in the day, and there weren’t many people inside the "Royal Palace." However, the card-playing area gathered a crowd of people gambling day and night, with occasional bursts of shouting.
Percy Stanton walked straight to the bar, ordered a low-alcohol cocktail, and sat quietly by himself in an inconspicuous corner.
In fact, since returning to Thompson Empire Group from Bellshire, he had begun to fear lonely days.
It didn’t matter whether he had any interaction with these people; as long as he could see people around, he could distract himself.
He hadn’t been resting well these days, his body was tired to the point that he felt he couldn’t hold on, but he was afraid to go home to sleep, fearing that in the pitch-black night, he would think of her as soon as he closed his eyes.
How pathetic, isn’t it?
That woman who claimed to be blind to pick him had spoken such harsh words, and yet he couldn’t forget her!
It’s true...he was bewitched!
As Percy thought this, he raised his glass and downed the cocktail in one gulp. Then he called the waiter for a bottle of whiskey, thinking that perhaps drinking more could help him fall asleep when he finally went home.
However, Percy’s alcohol tolerance seemed to be better than he imagined. The more he drank, the more energized he became. He didn’t know how long he had been drinking when the night grew deeper, and the pub became more crowded. Many men and women dressed in sexy clothes, drinking and dancing provocatively.
Even the music became deafening.
At this point, Percy was somewhat tipsy. He raised his head, saw the bustling crowd in front of him, and stumbled out of his seat and into the dance floor. Then, he went up to every woman with long, flowing hair and took a look at her.
Each time, he would stare for a while, and then murmur tiredly, "Not her."
Percy continued such searches, eventually getting himself into a bit of "trouble."
Women who came to the club to play often harbored the idea of having a fling. Percy’s handsome appearance and luxury car keys caught the attention of many discerning females. So, eventually, a bold woman wearing a deep V backless dress and high heels over ten centimeters high, sauntered up to Percy, handing him a cocktail in a flirtatious tone, "Sir, I wonder if you’re interested in keeping me company for a drink?"
Although Percy was somewhat drunk, he was still clear-headed. Hearing this, he chuckled softly, found an empty bar stool to sit on, and ordered a red cocktail from the bar. Casually, he asked, "Just one drink?"
The woman was pleasantly surprised by Percy’s reaction, thinking she had successfully flirted with him. She blinked at Percy and spoke seductively, "I’d rather spend one night than just have a drink."
Percy frowned at the woman, swirled the cocktail in his palm a couple of times, raised his head and drank half of it before turning to her with a smile, "You’re really shameless!"
The woman’s expression was a bit hurt by Percy’s scolding. She opened her mouth to continue speaking, but in the next second, Percy suddenly reached out and grabbed her chin.
His gaze on her was gentle and hazy, as if he had fallen in love, making the woman’s expression slightly better.
But, the very next moment, Percy spoke. His tone seemed enticing and affectionate, yet carried subtle warnings: "I’m not in a good mood today. If you’re wise, you’ll stay away!"
