Chapter 392: Chapter 406: Overestimating Oneself, Underestimating Love (8)
However, Isabel Smith still felt unsatisfied and even more frustrated. She lifted her head, took a deep breath and wondered, "What on earth is going on?" That man messed up her life, made her unable to work properly without him. She became distracted during meetings, absent-minded while eating, and woke up thirsty in the middle of the night. Conveniently, he broke up with her and left with their son, patting his butt in the process!
And, as if he wasn’t already hateful enough, now he had left her with a child...
Men are always like this: having fun at their own expense and leaving women with a mess!
As Isabel thought about this, her teeth clenched in anger. She couldn’t help but lift her foot and fiercely kick the washbasin in front of her. The reaction made her foot hurt so much that she almost squatted on the bathroom floor. Isabel hopped on one foot, gritting her teeth and then grabbed Percy Stanton’s razor left on the bathroom washbasin and smashed it to the floor before walking angrily out of the bathroom.
Although Isabel was angry, she found herself calming down when she realized that she had a child in her belly. She even carefully lifted her hand, stroking her belly that didn’t seem any different from before, and headed to the kitchen. Seeing the already soaked instant noodles, she picked up the tableware and stirred it a couple of times before deciding it was not nutritious enough. She then threw the whole box into the trash can, picked up her mobile phone and keys, and prepared to go out to eat something more nutritious.
Isabel picked a porridge house not far from her apartment. For her meal, she ordered a bowl of purple yam coix seed porridge and a cage of small buns, paid for them and found a seat to wait.
She sat next to a window, just beside a little chapel. The Christmas tree that had been set up outside for the just-ended holidays was still there, with colored lights wrapped around it and shimmering constantly.
Isabel looked at the Christmas tree, her eyes slightly spaced out. She was unexpectedly pregnant, and this child was not helpful to her in any way. If Sebastian Smith’s family were to find out, they would probably overreact again. By then, her carefully fostered estrangement between her grandma and Sebastian’s family would be wasted!
But, now that the child was here... she couldn’t just abandon it, could she?
At this moment, Isabel finally understood the meaning behind the words of that pregnant female employee she’d overheard in the restroom of Smith Corporation at noon.
Women really were all the same in some ways.
Before getting pregnant, they complained about not wanting children, seeing them as a burden, and wanting to live for themselves.
But once they got pregnant and knew they were carrying a small life in their belly, that’s when they realized that their heart had instantly fallen in love with this little life at that very moment.
Which should she choose between the planned and the unintended child...?
Isabel couldn’t help but getting a headache. She raised her hand, rubbed her brow, and then heard the friendly voice of the porridge shop waiter, "Miss, here’s your order."
Isabel put her hand down, nodded, forced a smile, and said, "Thank you."
"Enjoy your meal." The waiter returned her smile and then left.
Isabel picked up her tableware, stared at the porridge, and because she regained her senses, she lost her appetite and found it somewhat hard to eat. However, after hesitating for a while, she held her tableware, picked up the small buns, dipped them in a lot of vinegar and ate every one of them.
After finishing her meal, she raised her hand again, gently stroking her lower abdomen, then stood up very cautiously and left the porridge house.
