She knew better than anyone that when Percy Stanton investigated her pregnancy in such a deliberate and detailed manner behind her back, it represented something.

Isabel Smith was not a fool. She finally realized dazedly why Percy had been so awkward and moody not long ago. It turned out he knew about her pregnancy.

He had actually been sitting at his desk all night.

Percy glanced at the resignation letter he’d prepared on his computer screen, and after a moment of silence, he hit the print button. He then organized the printed paper and stuffed it into a white envelope, picking up a pen and writing "Resignation" on it.

Percy paused for a moment before continuing to write his name.

Once Auntie Hourly Worker had cleaned up the cigarette butts strewn around the desk, she carried the full ashtray out of the study.

Only then did Percy let out a sigh, picking up his mobile phone and dialing a number.

The call was quickly answered, and before the person on the other end could speak, Percy replied directly, "I’ll be returning to Ravenwood City within the next few days."

Pausing for a moment, Percy added word by word, "Taking over the Thompson Empire Group."

It took a while for the person on the other end to ask in a delighted tone whether he was really serious.

Percy, however, hung up without saying a word.

Isabel hadn’t slept well the day before. She woke up early in the morning and had an argument with Percy. She no longer had a car to hitch a ride with, so she had already prepared for work before seven o’clock and headed straight to the company.

It was still early, and there were only a few people in the company – two early-arriving interns were wiping tables. Seeing Isabel, they stopped what they were doing and called out, "CEO Smith."

Isabel Smith smiled and nodded, then pushed open the door to her office. Sitting in her office chair, she seemed unable to think of anything to do, so she just stared blankly.

It wasn’t until someone knocked on the office door that Isabel came back to her senses, seeing Secretary Emille carrying several documents and walking in, "CEO Smith, you need to review these documents today. If there’s no problem, you need to sign them."

As Emille spoke, she placed the documents neatly on Isabel’s desk.

Isabel nodded, signaling Emille to leave.

Emille, however, remained in the same spot, not moving.

Isabel frowned and asked, "Is there something else?"

"CEO Smith, this is something Vice President Campbell asked me to pass on to you." Emille lowered her head, hesitating for a while before handing a white envelope to Isabel.

Isabel tilted her head, scanning the envelope and seeing the elegantly written words "Resignation" on it. Her expression changed slightly, but she calmly turned her head away, giving a light "Hmm" through her nose before saying, "Place it on the table."

"Yes." Emille replied and, being too talkative, asked, "CEO Smith, is Vice President Campbell really resigning?"
