Chapter 358: Chapter 372: Proposal Gift (6)

Sebastian Smith and Carla Osbert hadn’t left yet, waiting in the Great Hall on the first floor of Bellshire Grand Hotel.

Seeing Mrs. Smith, Sebastian Smith and Carla Osbert immediately greeted her with wide smiles, saying: "Mom."

Mrs. Smith’s face was cold, and she didn’t even glance at Sebastian Smith and Carla Osbert. Instead, she said to the assistant following her, "Xiao Wang, take me home."

She then left Bellshire Grand Hotel without looking back, went straight to her car and settled in. Once seated, she said to Isabel Smith, who was standing outside the car, in a gentle tone: "Isabel, I’ll go first."

"Goodbye, Grandma," Isabel Smith smiled at Mrs. Smith with a curved lip.

"Mom, goodbye..." Carla Osbert tried to greet Mrs. Smith too, but before she could finish, Mrs. Smith rolled up the car window and the car slowly drove away.

Carla Osbert swallowed her trailing words awkwardly. She turned her head resentfully towards Isabel Smith, who raised her hand to adjust her coat, feigning ignorance, and said gently, "Uncle, Auntie, I’ll be leaving too. Goodbye."

Carla Osbert snorted coldly, turned around, and left with Sebastian Smith in a black sedan.

Isabel watched the car moving further and further away, hooked her lips, chuckled softly, and then took out her mobile phone from her pocket to call Elijah Smith.

Elijah Smith seemed to be waiting for Isabel’s call. Answering the call after just one ring, he asked anxiously, "How are you? Are you still alive?"

"Sorry to disappoint you, I’m still alive and well," Isabel joked cheerfully.

Elijah Smith finally let out a sigh of relief and said playfully, "Indeed, it’s disappointing. How come Grandma didn’t just torture you to death?"

"Elijah Smith, have you got too complacent? Are you asking for a beating again?"

"Isabel Smith, do you want to get married? Why are you so fierce?"

...

Isabel and Elijah Smith bantered back and forth before hanging up the phone.

Isabel remembered that Percy Stanton had something to talk to her tonight and said he would be waiting for her downstairs at the Bellshire Grand Hotel. So she looked around but couldn’t find him. Then, she took out her phone and called Percy Stanton.

Nobody answered the call.

Isabel thought that Percy Stanton might be busy, so she aimlessly walked around in her high heels, stepping on the stone bricks outside the Bellshire Grand Hotel. Occasionally, she took out her phone and continued calling Percy Stanton.

Time slowly passed, and Isabel started to grow impatient. Traffic on the road ahead grew scarcer, and some lights in the distant buildings gradually went out.

The Bellshire Grand Hotel also closed for the night. A Waiter, before leaving, walked up to Isabel and asked, "Miss, do you need any help?"

Isabel shook her head and said, "Thank you."

The waiter left politely, and the door to the Bellshire Grand Hotel was locked, leaving only the neon light flashing above.

As winter in Bellshire grew deeper into the night, the cold became more intense. Dressed in a formal dress, Isabel shivered from the cold. She stomped her feet and kept calling Percy Stanton.

A few times, she saw taxis passing by and wanted to raise her hand to hail one. But as she was about to, she put her hand down again.

Percy Stanton had told her to wait for him here, as he had something to tell her. He wasn’t answering her calls, so she thought he might be busy and decided to wait a little longer.

Isabel wasn’t usually so patient or good-tempered; she hated waiting for others the most. The only person she had ever waited for was Marion Hancock at Starhaven University Pedestrian Street. And now for the second time, she didn’t know what had gotten into her, but deep down in her bones, she couldn’t bring herself to leave.

She felt that Percy Stanton would appear eventually.
