Chapter 346: Chapter 358: Life and Death Hanging by a Thread (36)

In the grand hall of the venue, eighty-one crystal chandeliers were lit together, their dazzling light shining brightly. As soon as Percy entered, a crowd of people gathered around, greeting him. He took a glass of red wine from the tray held by a waiter nearby, seemingly engaged in courteous conversations while quickly scanning the crowd with his gaze.

He soon spotted Isabel under a crystal chandelier near the floor-to-ceiling window in the center of the hall, chatting with a young woman.

Isabel’s long hair was tied up behind her head, and she wore an off-shoulder nude long dress that shimmered in the light of the crystal chandelier. She looked both elegant and alluring.

Percy’s gaze softened as he maintained the image of a modest young gentleman while dealing with people who greeted him, gracefully approaching where Isabel stood.

Just as Percy was about to reach Isabel, she finished chatting with the young woman. She turned her head and saw Percy not far away, smiled at him, then held her wine glass, standing still in her place.

After quickly exchanging a few words with the man he had just clinked glasses with, Percy strode toward Isabel.

The crystal chandeliers illuminated the entire grand hall brilliantly, while countless impeccably dressed men and women with graceful presences surrounded Percy. He wore the same suit he had worn to work today.

Isabel always thought that a person’s temperament requires nurturing from a young age. However, Percy, a man of humble origins, possessed a luxurious bearing that many people from aristocratic backgrounds lacked.

Despite his ordinary-looking attire and hairstyle, Percy was undeniably stunning. Among the various fascinating appearances of others tonight, he seemed overly simple.

But his outstanding disposition bore an unintentional charm that easily intoxicated others. This made the moment he walked toward Isabel feel as if all the surrounding noise had become a mere backdrop, and only Percy was the most vivid presence.

Percy stopped a meter away from Isabel and lowered his head slightly, with her towering heels making her a bit taller, to look into her eyes.

His eyes were of just the right size, slightly upturned at the corners. Under the brilliant lamp light, a layer of shimmering light flickered at the bottom of his eyes, giving him an air of noble elegance.

Isabel was captivated. After a short while, she finally smiled and asked, "Did you just arrive?"

"Yes." Percy nodded, his gaze still on Isabel, and asked, "Are you free after the signing ceremony?"

"Sure!" Isabel responded and asked, "What’s the matter?"

"Uh." Percy was about to respond when an attendant approached and respectfully urged Isabel, "Miss Smith, the signing ceremony is about to begin. You need to go on stage."

Isabel turned to the attendant and said, "I know."

Then she looked back at Percy, waiting for him to continue.

Percy raised his hand, gently tidying some unruly strands of Isabel’s hair. Then he spoke, "Wait for me downstairs after the signing ceremony."

Isabel nodded, then pointed to the stage and said, "Then I’ll go first."

"Yes, go ahead." Percy smiled, making way for her. As Isabel walked past him in that instant, he spoke again, "Isabel, don’t forget what I just said."

Isabel turned her head and looked at Percy doubtfully, feeling puzzled. But since the signing ceremony was about to begin, she quickly nodded and hurried to the stage.

...

Signing ceremonies were, in essence, all alike.
