Chapter 340: Chapter 352: Life and Death Hanging by a Thread (30)

In the end, it didn’t take long for Percy Stanton’s hand to wander up again. Isabel Smith knocked it away, and Percy tried once more... Worn out, Isabel just wanted to sleep. After a few more rounds of this, Isabel’s patience wore thin. She slapped the quilt hard and quickly sat up. Without thinking, she raised her foot and gave Percy a fierce kick to the waist, angrily saying, "Percy, did you take some aphrodisiac today? It’s non-stop with you! If you really can’t help yourself, go find your Lady Five Fingers to take care of it!"

A man’s waist, compared to other parts, is rather vulnerable. With no warning, Percy was kicked by Isabel and tumbled out of bed.

Isabel heard a "thud" and turned her head to see Percy, limbs all akimbo, sprawled on the ground. She quickly sobered up, a wave of panic surging in her heart. All the fatigue Percy had inflicted on her tonight vanished in fright!

Initially, Isabel thought Percy would get angry with her, but who would have guessed that he just stayed there, lying on the ground, dazed, and then dazed again. He then silently got up, climbed back into bed, and lay down quietly on the side without moving.

Isabel stole several glances at Percy, and noticed that the man not only had no signs of annoyance, but actually seemed to be in a good mood, with a trace of a smile lingering on the corner of his lips.

Though Isabel found it strange that Percy could still smile after being kicked out of the bed, her heart settled down nonetheless.

Every woman has her little stubborn ways and quirks. When seen through the eyes of a man who doesn’t love her, these quirks may seem artificial and annoying. But in the eyes of a man who loves her, they become charming, uniquely alluring, and heart-stirring.

That outburst was like a beginning. After the first time, there was a second, and then a third... Most of the time, Isabel would scold Percy over trivial matters, and he never showed any signs of anger.

And then, some habits, unnoticed by people, quietly formed, ingraining themselves deeply.

...

In November, Bellshire already had an unbearable chill which discouraged people from venturing outdoors. As winter arrived in the northern region, the trees around the city became bare, even the evergreens turned a dull, grayish-green, lacking their usual luster.

In this not-so-favorite month of November, the Smith Corporation welcomed a cause for celebration—an official public contract signing with "Ten Mile Prosperity."

The signing ceremony was held in the three-story Great Hall of the Bellshire Grand Hotel, starting at 8 PM.

Percy had initially planned to pick up Isabel tonight and go to the Bellshire Grand Hotel together but, in the afternoon, he had to go to the suburbs for a matter. Upon returning, the traffic was particularly congested. Fearing the delay in time, he called Isabel and asked her to leave for the Bellshire Grand Hotel herself when it was time.

Around 7 PM, Percy entered the busiest commercial street in the City Center, the only way to the Bellshire Grand Hotel. The road was jammed, barely inching forward. Sitting in the car, he impatiently tapped the steering wheel, his gaze darting around, and then noticed a diamond flagship store next to the street.

Percy’s gaze suddenly fixed on the store. Through the spacious glass windows, he could see the diamond rings displayed on the counter, and a strange idea crept into his heart.

That idea had actually crossed his mind the night he had made up for Isabel’s birthday. Now that it resurfaced, it was like a weed that had found fertile soil, wildly spreading and growing rampantly.

After watching the flagship store for a while, Percy finally turned the steering wheel, parked his car beside the street, and gracefully walked towards the diamond flagship store.
