Chapter 335: Chapter 347: Life and Death Hang in the Balance (25)
...
On the top floor of Bellshire Grand Hotel lies a revolving restaurant, where you can see a panoramic view of Bellshire’s night scenery through the thick glass windows.
The waiter walks a meter in front of Isabel Smith, leading her into the revolving restaurant.
At this time, the rotating restaurant is empty, with only dim blue lamp light sprinkling on the black marble floor, making it look deep and noble. The beige curtains hanging on the floor-to-ceiling windows are half-open, revealing a glimpse of the full moon and scattered stars on the horizon outside.
The waiter leads Isabel to a table with lit candles, pulling the dining chair out for her to take a seat, then hands her an iPad, that he had carried upstairs with him, "Miss, this is the menu, you can order what you need."
"Thank you." Isabel accepts the iPad, lifts her slender finger, swipes back and forth on the touch screen and then taps on several of her usual small dishes, before placing the iPad on the table and telling the waiter: "I’ll order the rest later."
"Alright, Miss." The waiter politely asks: "May I ask, Miss, what would you like to drink?"
Considering Raymond Thompson’s childish taste, Isabel ponders for a while then says, "Freshly squeezed fruit juice."
"Okay, Miss, please wait."
The waiter bows and leaves.
The entire restaurant suddenly submerges into quietness. Looking out of the window, Isabel sees the lights from thousands of households in Bellshire, with the bustling traffic on streets below casts shadows of brilliance.
A kettle of brewed floral tea sits on the table. Isabel pours herself a cup, then takes a sip, enjoying the rich aroma lingering on her lips and teeth.
Isabel finishes the tea eventually, but Percy Stanton and Raymond Thompson haven’t returned yet. She frowns quizzically, taking her mobile phone out of her pocket to make a call to Percy, when suddenly, a piano tune emerges from behind her.
In the spacious revolving restaurant, with her being the only person, the piano music resounds strikingly loud. As she looks back, she spots a piano positioned at the center of the restaurant’s circular stage but is unable to see the person playing it.
Curiosity drives Isabel to instinctively stand up and walk toward the piano.
The piano music sounds smooth and captivating; each note carries just the right charm, drifting in the comforting atmosphere of the quiet revolving restaurant.
Before Isabel can walk around to see the pianist, all of a sudden, a muffled "poof" sound comes from above. Startled, she lifts her head and watches numerous multicolored paper fragments fall, illuminating like a swarm of fireflies in the night air, slowly settling on her, her hair, and the piano. The paper pieces continue to flicker with a myriad of colors.
Blown away by this picturesque sight, Isabel gazes at the scene before her, not realizing what’s happening. Suddenly, the heavy door of the revolving restaurant is pushed open, and a sliding car, carrying a cake with a circle of candles around it, slowly makes its way in.
Simultaneously, the piano tune changes to the familiar "Happy Birthday" melody.
The person pushing the car is rather short; Isabel only vaguely sees the top of their head and hears Raymond singing in his tender voice: "Happy birthday to you..."
Unconsciously, Isabel takes a step forward, watching Raymond, who is pushing the cake, and then turning her head back to see Percy, smiling at her while playing the piano.
