Chapter 327: Chapter 339: Life and Death Hang in the Balance (17)

Raymond Thompson regretfully "oh"ed, then looked up at Isabel Smith and said earnestly, "Sister Isabel, actually, I’d prefer it if you’d mind my father’s bathroom, but since you like it, I won’t force you."

Raymond paused and added, "Sister Isabel, could you hurry up with your shower? I’m waiting for you.", and then reluctantly left Percy Stanton’s bedroom.

Isabel waited until she was alone in the bedroom before letting out a sigh of relief. After a moment of silence, she stepped towards the bathroom.

...

Raymond squatted on the living room floor, propped his chin up with his hand, and thought about what to play next with his Sister Isabel.

As he was engrossed in thought, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Raymond frowned at the interruption of his train of thought, and when the doorbell rang again, he got up from the floor and slowly walked to the door. He then moved a small stool behind the door, climbed on it, and looked out through the cat’s eye (door viewer).

Raymond had a good memory. Although he had only seen Elijah Smith once, he remembered him as the uncle who had brought him home last time. Raymond jumped off the stool, moved it away, stood on his tiptoes, and opened the door. He asked politely, "Hello, Uncle, who are you looking for?"

Elijah Smith had finished his morning lessons at school and returned to the Smith family ’s home in the afternoon. When he met Charlotte Green, she gently showed her concern for him for quite a while. After Charlotte left, Elijah lay on the bed, planning to take a nap, but suddenly remembered Isabel’s drunken state last night and became worried. He simply got up from the bed and drove straight to Isabel’s home, only to find that no one answered the door after a long time of ringing the doorbell. So, he went directly to the neighboring house.

Elijah Smith did not expect that the person opening the door for him would be five-year-old Raymond Thompson. He looked down at Raymond and replied, "Hello, is Isabel Smith here?"

A romantic rival? Raymond immediately became alert and looked at Elijah Smith with some wariness, asking nervously, "Who are you? Why are you looking for my Sister Isabel?"

From Raymond’s words, Elijah Smith deduced that Isabel was in Percy’s home. He continued, "Can I come in and see Isabel?"

Without thinking, Raymond raised his arms, blocked the door, and sternly asked again, "Uncle, you haven’t told me yet, who are you?"

"My name is Elijah Smith, and I am Isabel’s younger brother."

So, it’s her brother... Raymond immediately retracted his hands, stepped aside, and said very cordially, "Please come in quickly!"

Raymond led Elijah into the living room, invited him to sit on the sofa, and personally poured him a glass of water, handing it to him with a touch of flattery.

This was the second time Elijah had met Raymond, and he found the child extremely likable and adorable. However, he still didn’t know his name, so he asked aloud, "What’s your name?"

"Raymond Thompson." Raymond answered Elijah’s question and then tilted his head, thinking for a moment before saying, "But you don’t have to go through the trouble of calling me by my name. It’ll be a hassle for you to change it later. You can just call me ’brother-in-law’ directly."

Elijah was drinking the water that Raymond had handed him when suddenly, he heard these words. He abruptly spat out all the water in his mouth and started coughing violently.

He had seen children who acted like adults before, but he had never encountered one like Raymond.

And what did he just say?

It would be troublesome to change it later, can call him brother-in-law directly?

Brother-in-law?

As Elijah coughed, he looked Raymond up and down. What kind of joke was this; the child didn’t even have a full head of hair, and he wanted to be Elijah’s brother-in-law?
