Chapter 315: Chapter 327: Life and Death Hang in the Balance (5)
It wasn’t until the entire bottle of wine was empty that Isabel Smith finally let go and pouted her lips, saying, "It’s gone..."
Elijah Smith picked up the empty bottle, looking annoyed as he placed it on the table. He was about to scold Isabel when she suddenly leaned on the table, motionless.
Elijah stood up and gently pushed Isabel’s shoulder. She didn’t respond, so he sighed, called a waiter to settle the bill, and carried her out of the pub.
As the cool breeze blew outside, Isabel sobered up a bit and opened her drowsy eyes. She leaned her head on Elijah’s shoulder and muttered, "Wine, wine, I want more wine!"
"If you drink more, you’ll drink yourself to death!" Elijah muttered lowly at Isabel, still carefully dragging and carrying her to the parking lot. With one foot braced against the car and one hand supporting her limp body, he took out his key, opened the car door, and stuffed her inside.
As Elijah started the car and drove, a beeping warning signal came from Isabel’s side. Elijah glanced at Isabel, who hadn’t fastened her seatbelt, and stopped the car in the middle of the road to fasten it for her.
Isabel was quiet, as if asleep. Elijah breathed a sigh of relief, but before he could finish exhaling, Isabel suddenly raised her head and stared straight ahead, singing in a strange, eerie tone, "My sister, I’m at the bow of the ship, while you walk ashore..."
Elijah was startled by Isabel’s sudden singing and the steering wheel briefly slipped, nearly hitting the railing on the side of the road.
Elijah quickly adjusted the steering wheel, staring straight ahead at the road and ignoring Isabel beside him.
Isabel, however, seemed to be having a great time as she sat in the co-pilot seat, enthusiastically singing one song after another, all of which miraculously stayed in tune.
Elijah gradually got used to Isabel’s singing, praying in his heart that she wouldn’t pull any more stunts. But, as if to spite him, she suddenly started singing "Why am I always the one getting hurt..." while grabbing his shoulder and shaking it forcefully, repeating the lyrics, "Do you love me, do you love me..."
"Damn, these lyrics surprisingly don’t clash at all!" Elijah muttered under his breath, hurriedly freeing one of his hands from the steering wheel to appease Isabel’s never-ending shaking.
To his surprise, when Isabel began to shake halfway through, her singing became unclear, and she started to pinch and bite Elijah’s arm.
Elijah screamed in pain and couldn’t help but shout, "Isabel Smith, stop it!"
His yelling only seemed to make her grip stronger, and she even grabbed his arm and bit down without mercy. The painful bite made Elijah’s face turn pale, and he slammed on the brakes, stopping the car.
Elijah desperately shook his hand, trying to shake off Isabel, but she only clung on tighter. In the end, Elijah was in so much pain that he didn’t dare move, and he plaintively begged, "Auntie, please, be gentle, gentle..."
Isabel, as if not hearing him, continued biting for a while before she finally seemed to lose strength and slowly relaxed her grip. Her lips still pressed against his clothes, she panted heavily for a moment before muttering softly, "Serves you right!"
After saying that, Isabel’s tone grew heavier, "You deserve it for holding someone else, I’ll bite you to death, make you ache with pain, serves you right!"
