Chapter 297: Chapter 309: Unexpected Encounter at the Horse Field (11)
After saying that, he threw the car keys into the housekeeper’s palm: "Drive this car over and give the car keys to Mr. Stanton."
Hesitant and somewhat embarrassed, Elijah Smith continued: "Well, the soup is for Isabel, and the dishes are for Mr. Stanton. Tell her she can’t eat too much when she’s just recovering, so drink some soup. Mr. Stanton has been taking care of my sister all night without eating, so you need to send it over quickly."
"So, the young master has been busy all morning making food for Miss Isabel."
Elijah’s face suddenly turned red. He coughed and said, "I have to go to class at school. Thank you, Benjamin Butler."
After saying that, Elijah picked up his school bag, changed his shoes at the entrance, and walked out the door, leaving a house full of stunned servants.
What did the Young Master just say?
Did he say he was going to class?
The young master, who got into the University thanks to Mrs. Smith’s connections and money, was actually going to class?
...
When Isabel woke up again, the sky outside was already bright, and the sunlight was extraordinarily beautiful.
When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Percy Stanton. Perhaps due to a sleepless night, the man’s face looked somewhat pale, his eyes had dark circles, and his white shirt was wrinkled. There was stubble on his chin, and he appeared very tired.
His voice, however, remained as calm and soothing as ever, sounding a bit warmer and gentle: "How are you feeling?"
Isabel stared blankly at Percy’s stunningly beautiful face, which seemed a bit haggard.
She clearly remembered being at the horse field. How did she end up here?
Isabel glanced around the white room and realized she was wearing a hospital gown. She frowned, paused for a moment, and then gradually recalled the events that had taken place.
Evelyn Osbert caused trouble, resulting in both of them falling off their horses. Then, scared horses, she shielded Elijah from the horse’s hooves...
She only remembered the excruciating pain and passing out before she even had a chance to cry.
It seemed like she had slept for a long time before waking up.
Thinking about this, Isabel could feel pain coming from her back where the horse had kicked her. She involuntarily gasped, her eyes welling up with tears.
Unconscious, she would sometimes cry, but now that she’s awake, Isabel couldn’t let herself shed tears in front of Percy. Instead, she clenched her teeth and bore the pain.
Seeing the moisture in her eyes, Percy grew worried and asked, "What’s wrong? Are you in pain somewhere?"
Swallowing her saliva, Isabel tried to suppress her tears, nodded and said, "My back hurts."
"I’ll call the doctor," Percy said, as he quickly stood up and ran towards the door. After a few steps, he turned as if he remembered something, then returned to Isabel’s bedside, raised his hand, and pressed the call bell.
About a minute later, several doctors arrived, surrounding Isabel and starting their examination. They pressed on the wound on her back while asking her how it felt, whether it hurt, and if it felt swollen... and so on.
Isabel just felt tired and didn’t say anything but only nodded or shook her head. After a long time, the doctors finally stopped their questioning and examination and moved away from her.
The last doctor to leave Isabel’s side adjusted the transfusion tube on her hospital bed, slowing down the pace of the infusion a bit.
