Chapter 292: Chapter 304: Unexpected Encounter at the Horse Field (6)
We did our best... Such a cruel sentence... A single sentence, as if it overturned his entire world.
Heh heh... What a joke, what kind of lousy answer is this!
This is telling him that after so many hours of anxiety, what he had feared still came to pass?
Isabel Smith is beyond saving... She’s dying... How is that possible?
He absolutely refuses to accept it!
The equipment for testing heartbeats still emits a piercing alarm, signaling that the life of Isabel, who is lying on the bed, is gradually fading away.
Percy Stanton looks sideways at the equipment and notices that nearly half of the fluctuating heartbeat lines have turned into straight lines, and the rest of the originally fluctuating lines are slowly straightening out as well.
Percy’s hand suddenly clenches into a fist, and he fiercely glares at the equipment, taking two steps away then kicking viciously at it - kicking it straight off the table and onto the ground, where it lands with a crooked crash.
Whether it’s out of sheer panic or an inability to accept such a reality, his breathing grows exceptionally heavy, his vision turns bloodshot, and he turns his head to the stare at the doctors with a fierce, brutal glimmer in his eyes. His hands tighten into fists, and the knuckles crack as he furiously clenches them. With a face as calm as still water and a beautiful countenance tinged with faint hints of near-collapse grief, he speaks softly yet coldly: "I do not accept this outcome. Cure her for me."
His voice is hoarse and sexy, yet undeniable in its certainty, leaving no room for resistance.
His gaze scans over the doctors one by one; seeing them freeze, he kicks the equipment on the ground again and shouts once more: "What are you all just standing there for? I said, I don’t accept this outcome! I want her alive!"
No one knows just how he has lived through every moment since he witnessed her fall from the horse and slip into unconsciousness.
He feels as if he’s floating in mid-air with nothing to grab onto above, nor anything to support him below. At any moment, he could fall and shatter into pieces, utterly disfigured.
He’s always thought he was on the verge of breaking down, trying to suppress it and telling himself that Isabel still had hope.
They had just met – how could she die?
But now... now...
Engulfed in overwhelming panic, Percy loses all reason and composure. With a brutal gleam in his eyes that suggests he could destroy the whole world at any moment, he threatens the doctors with fierce determination: "If you can’t save her, I’ll tear you all apart, one by one!"
The doctors have seen all sorts of people facing death and powerless to stop it – some cry in sorrow, some collapse instantly, others stand dumbfounded and some even exhale a long breath... But they’ve never seen a man use such dominance to mask his grief and mad fury to conceal his inability to accept the truth.
Indeed, the light in his eyes seems to suggest that if the woman on the bed dies, he would truly do as he threatened and ruin them all.
The doctors exchange a trembling glance, and one of them gathers his courage to mutter: "Sir, we’ve really tried our best. The patient on the bed has a weak consciousness and doesn’t seem to have any desire to live... we’re really at a loss now."
Who are they talking about? Who has a weak consciousness and no will to live?
Isabel Smith lies on the bed, feeling confused by all the chaotic words around her.
It seems like she hears someone getting angry, and she wants to open her eyes to see what’s going on, but she’s so tired that she wants to close them and sleep well.
Once again, dark fog slowly engulfs her surroundings, pressing down heavily upon her, swallowing her up bit by bit.
