Chapter 291: Chapter 303: Unexpected Encounter at the Horse Field (5)

Isabel’s consciousness was hazy, and she faintly felt several people moving around her body, as if some ice-cold equipment was pressed against her chest, and someone had flipped her eyelids, shining a blindingly white flashlight into her eyes.

The light was so piercing that it made her uncomfortable. She wanted to raise her hand to block it, but she felt as heavy as lead and could not move. She was exhausted and could not even open her mouth to speak.

"Blood pressure is a bit low..."

"It seems like a high fever caused by an injury on her back."

"She might be having a nightmare and is emotionally unstable. Try to calm her down, and she might get better..."

Who were these people constantly whispering around her? It was so annoying... Isabel frowned deeply, feeling her entire body ache even more. Suddenly, her tears began to fall more intensely.

Percy stood quietly by, watching several doctors huddled around Isabel, whispering in low voices. He raised his hand, tugged his tie, and patiently waited a while longer. Seeing that Isabel showed no improvement and her tears falling more furiously, he couldn’t help but lose his temper and roar: "Isn’t she better yet? You’ve been fussing for half a day, and so many doctors can’t even handle one patient?"

The doctors all wore bitter expressions and wiped their sweat after being scolded by Percy, daring not to utter a single word. The infirmary suddenly became much quieter.

Isabel closed her eyes, wondering who it was, such a pleasant voice but speaking so harshly. It was quite annoying, but his shouting seemed to be effective, finally making the room quiet enough for her to rest.

Just as she was about to drift into sleep, a sudden voice rang out: "Her condition is extremely critical, her consciousness is weakening."

"What do you mean?" The pleasant voice asked again.

"It’s hard to say, her will to live is dismal..." As the doctor spoke, the heart rate monitor next to them suddenly began emitting sharp beeping sounds, and the fluctuating heartbeat line gradually became a straight line.

"We have tried our best..." Another person spoke, with a tone of regret.

"What do you mean ’tried your best’? Is there no hope even after giving their best?" The pleasant voice erupted with agitation.

The doctors retreated a step after being yelled at by Percy.

"As long as she has a breath left, you better save her!"

"I’m telling you, believe it or not, if she dies, you guys will roll out of this hospital right away, and I guarantee that none of you will ever make it in the medical circle again!"

As Percy was scolding, he continued tugging at his collar, even though it was a late autumn night, he felt cold sweat dripping down his body.

What did they mean by ’tried their best’?

In his lifetime, he thought he had experienced many heart-stopping and agonizing events, but no matter what, he could always maintain the calmest demeanor and get through them.

But now, he found ’tried their best’ to be the deadliest weapon in the world, shattering his entire world and beliefs.

For six years, he lived intertwined in love and hatred for her, wanting to resent her, but only loving her deeper.

He knew he was destined never to lose her in this lifetime.

But, he never knew how much he couldn’t lose her!

Now, he had his answer.

Losing her, was like losing the whole world!

He couldn’t give her the whole world, but he could give her his whole world. If he could, he would willingly trade everything he had now for her peace and safety.
