Elijah Smith raised his head, took one look at the "No Smoking" sign on the wall, quickly removed the cigarette from his mouth, nodded hurriedly towards the nurse, and extinguished the cigarette in the nearby trash can.

The smoke he had drawn into his stomach was expelled, and he coughed violently, choking himself. He bent over, leaning on the trash can, and it took him quite a while to collect himself.

"Sir, are you alright?" The thoughtful nurse provided Elijah Smith with a bottle of water.

He slowly raised his head, his eyes a bit red, and shook his head at the nurse. "Thank you, I don’t need it. I’m okay."

Then he walked quickly, striding towards the restroom without looking back.

Elijah Smith immediately turned on the faucet; the cold water gushing out. He bent down, placing his head under the water. It was after a while that Elijah Smith finally lifted his head. He saw himself in the mirror, his hair completely wet, water dripping down, his face pale, presenting a miserable sight.

Yet Elijah Smith forced a smile. As he continued to smile, his face became calm. He raised his hand, shaking slightly, and traced the dry bloodstains on his shoulder. Even though it was cold now, he found it to be burning hot, so hot that the tip of his fingers ached.

Just one month ago, on the night she had fought with him, she went back to the Smith family house. When she left late at night, their grandma asked him to send her, but he had no reaction. The next morning, he drove to school and discovered a paper bag in his car. He opened the bag to find a stack of cash inside.

He lowered the window, asked the housekeeper who drove his car the day before, and the housekeeper told him that Miss Isabel Smith had taken his car keys last night.

What was he thinking then? She gave him so much money, what for? He needed more money to go to Hong Kong with Charlotte Green!

Just because she slapped him, then reversed course to coax him into going to class and gave him money, did she think he wouldn’t be angry anymore?

She was dreaming!

Look at how willful he was. He stomped on the gas pedal and ran off, directly went to the suburb with his friends for a barbecue. That night, he even spent the whole night having fun with a female student from the same school in the tent.

For an entire month, he did not go to school once. Isabel Smith wanted him to be a triple-A student, but he was determined to disappoint her!

He was not an idiot. He just felt that Isabel Smith never really loved him...

Elijah Smith’s hand which was bracing on the washbasin tightened into a fist, his head hanging low, tears started to trickle down his face.

The pitter-patter it made as it fell onto the marble of the washbasin was heavy.
