Chapter 274: Chapter 286: The Repeated Confessions (23)
Isabel Smith stood next to Percy Stanton, smelling the unique, faint fragrance emanating from his body. The scent was so subtle, almost non-existent, yet it kept making its way into her nostrils, stirring something strange within her heart. She quickly rinsed her hands, grabbed some paper tissue, and turned away, ready to leave.
Unbeknownst to her, someone had left quite a puddle of water near the washbasin in the restroom. She didn’t notice and, wearing her flat shoes, she slipped, falling hard backwards. With a soft cry, she instinctively reached out and grabbed onto Percy’s arm.
Guided by the force, she slid slightly backward, bumping into his back, and finally steadied her body.
That was a close call; thankfully, she didn’t fall to the ground!
Isabel let out a sigh of relief, her hand still clutching tightly onto Percy’s arm. Due to the impact, her soft chest was pressed firmly against his solid back.
Through the two layers of sportswear, Percy could distinctly feel how soft the body pressed against his back was. His hand-washing motion suddenly stopped, and a wave of burning desire ignited from his back and quickly spread throughout his entire body.
Percy’s body gradually tensed up, and his back exerted some force against Isabel.
Isabel sensed the difference in the man’s body she was pressing against, and it slowly registered in her mind. She timidly opened her eyes, which she had just squeezed shut in fear of falling, and saw a panel of white cotton cloth. It then dawned on her that she had bumped into someone.
Isabel furrowed her brow and gently turned her head, scanning the surroundings. It suddenly clicked in her mind and she instantly sobered up.
Other than herself, only Percy was at the washbasin...
Isabel hurriedly stepped back, only now realizing that her hand had still been tightly gripping Percy’s arm. Scared, her fingers trembled and she quickly let go of his clothes. She took another step back, carefully lifting her head to look at the mirror in front of her.
Percy’s back was facing Isabel, but through the mirror, he could see Isabel’s eyes cast upon him. Silently, he raised his brows and composed his expression, taking several deep breaths to forcefully suppress the desire rolling within. His back remained rigid, still remembering the feel of her softness, and his heart suddenly quivered
Ever since a month ago that night, when he had lost his temper at her, they’d had little such contact outside of their work. She almost fell just now, and in her urgency, she had grabbed onto Percy.
Unable to help it, Isabel’s face turned slightly red, and she awkwardly stood aside, her heart restless. After a while, she finally spoke out, "I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose."
Percy was brought back to his senses by Isabel’s words. His eyes fell, and he silently withdrew his hands from under the running water. He grabbed a piece of paper tissue from the side, wiped his hands, then casually tossed it into the trash can. Turning around, he walked past Isabel without even a glance at her, as if nothing had happened at all.
Isabel stood there, still and tense, her words sinking like stones into the great sea, never to return.
She watched as Percy, with his cold expression, gracefully and steadily strode past her, until he was completely out of the restroom.
Isabel stood blankly inside the restroom, her eyes following Percy’s figure as it disappeared entirely around the corner of the door. She blinked and returned to her senses, only to realize that the restroom was empty and she was all alone.
She really hadn’t expected it: he had left without a word, without even giving her a single glance.
