Chapter 261: Chapter 273: The Repeated Confessions (10)
"Elijah, come over and sit for a while, accompany your sister!" Mrs. Smith called out, stopping Elijah.
Elijah hesitated, his back turned to Mrs. Smith and Isabel for a second before he turned his head and said, "I have something to do, I need to use the Internet."
Without waiting for Mrs. Smith to say anything further, he quickly walked over to the staircase in just a few steps.
Just then, a servant carrying a plate of fruit walked past Elijah and exclaimed in surprise, "Young Master, what happened to your face? Did you get into a fight?"
The servant’s voice was loud and caught Mrs. Smith’s attention, causing her to immediately stand up and walk straight over to Elijah. Seeing the five finger marks on his fair face, she asked sternly, "Elijah, did you get into another fight at school?"
Elijah pursed his lips, not saying a word.
The servant ran into the kitchen in a panic, fetched an ice pack, and pressed it against Elijah’s face with a pitying look. "Who hit you so hard? Look at that swelling! You need to ice it so it will go down by tomorrow."
Whether it was because the servant pressed too hard or the ice was too cold, Elijah winced, gasping for breath.
Mrs. Smith couldn’t help but feel sorry for her grandson, and her stern expression suddenly softened as she started complaining about Elijah’s constant troublemaking while having someone fetch ointment.
Mrs. Smith took Elijah to the living room sofa and applied the ointment to his face while complaining, "You should never hit someone’s face. Which one of your classmates did such a terrible thing?"
Elijah remained silent in the face of his grandmother’s question.
Isabel sat nearby, glancing quietly at Elijah’s face. As their gazes collided, Elijah didn’t wait for her to react before looking away coldly.
Isabel tightened her lips and lowered her eyes.
When Elijah’s treatment was finished, Isabel stood up and said goodbye to Mrs. Smith.
Mrs. Smith, noticing the late hour, suggested that Elijah drive Isabel home. "Elijah, take your sister home."
Elijah’s eyebrows immediately furrowed, but before he could say anything, Isabel interjected, "Grandma, there’s no need for that. I can take a taxi."
Without waiting for Elijah or Mrs. Smith to respond, Isabel grabbed her bag and said, "Goodbye."
Then she turned around and left.
"Elijah, you’re such a lazy child. Can’t you even drive your sister home?" Mrs. Smith grumbled as she saw Isabel out the door.
Elijah sat on the sofa, watching Isabel put on her shoes at the entrance hall. His lips moved, but in the end, he said nothing and slouched back on the sofa.
Scattered voices from the entrance hall mixed in with Mrs. Smith and Isabel’s farewell words, which Elijah could not hear clearly. He didn’t move an inch until the entrance hall fell quiet and Mrs. Smith slowly walked back.
...
The housekeeper was directing workers to move flowers that had been sunned outside during the day back inside the villa. When he saw Isabel leaving alone, he couldn’t help but say, "Miss Isabel, let Old Wang take you home."
"No need." Isabel smiled and seemed to remember something. "Do you have the keys to Elijah’s car?"
"I just locked the car for the young master, and I haven’t given the keys back to him yet." As the housekeeper spoke, he pulled a Maserati key from his pocket.
Isabel reached out and took the key. "I’ll use it for a moment and give it back to you later."
With that, she walked over to the nearby parking lot, pressed the key’s switch, and saw the red Maserati’s lights flash.
