Chapter 256: Chapter 268: The Repeated Confessions (5)

He tossed the keys to the security guard standing aside and walked into Smith Corporation’s building.

Upon seeing Elijah Smith, the receptionist greeted him with extra enthusiasm and personally pressed the elevator button for him.

With his hands in his pockets, Elijah glanced at the beautiful receptionist and called out "beautiful older sister" with a mischievous grin before stepping into the elevator and going straight up to his floor.

When Elijah arrived at Isabel’s office, she was signing documents, and Secretary Emille was standing next to her, handing her another set of documents as soon as she finished signing one.

Seeing Elijah walk in, Secretary Emille greeted him politely, "Young Master."

She then lowered her head and whispered in Isabel’s ear, "CEO Smith, the young master is here."

Isabel did not speak and continued signing her documents. During a break between signings, she glanced at Elijah, then casually pointed to the sofa nearby and said, "Please have a seat."

Elijah smirked and sat down on the sofa without a word. He pulled out his mobile phone and played a game while waiting for Isabel to finish her work.

About half an hour later, Isabel finally finished signing the documents.

Secretary Emille organized all the papers and held them in her arms. Sensing the situation, she said to Isabel, "CEO Smith, I’ll step out now."

"Mm," Isabel raised her hand, rubbing her slightly aching shoulder, and told Secretary Emille, "Have Little Lu bring in two cups of coffee later."

"Yes, CEO Smith."

After Secretary Emille left, within two minutes, Little Lu entered with two cups of coffee.

Isabel gestured towards the tea table in front of Elijah, and Little Lu placed the coffee there before leaving and closing the office door behind her.

Isabel elegantly stood up and slowly walked over to Elijah, sitting down on the sofa opposite him. She picked up the coffee, took a sip, and then smiled at Elijah, knowingly asking, "Elijah, what brings you here?"

Elijah put down his mobile phone and looked at Isabel without speaking.

Isabel had more patience, leisurely drinking her coffee. When she was about to finish, she checked the time on her wristwatch and finally said, "Elijah, if you don’t speak up, I have a meeting to attend."

Elijah knew that Isabel was doing it on purpose. His face darkened, and he reluctantly said, "You bet with me, and I did as you said. Now you should give me the money, right?"

"Oh, so you came for the money?" Isabel laughed, put down her coffee cup, stood up, and walked to her office desk. Then she casually opened a drawer and took out Elijah’s bank card that she had prepared in advance.

As Isabel handed the bank card to Elijah, she casually asked, "Elijah, the other day when you called me so urgently for money, was there something you needed to do?"

Elijah reached out to take the bank card from Isabel and unconsciously replied, "In a few days, Charlotte Green wants me to accompany her to Hong Kong."

Upon hearing this, Isabel’s eyes grew cold, and before Elijah could receive the bank card, she suddenly clenched it back into her own hand.

Elijah frowned, looking at Isabel and asked with an unpleasant tone, "Isabel, what do you mean?"

"It’s obvious; I won’t give you this money," Isabel said as she turned around, walked back to her office desk, opened the drawer, casually threw the bank card back in, and locked the drawer with a key. Then she opened her wallet, took out a few red bills, and tossed them to Elijah, saying, "This is a reward for you attending school well these days."

Elijah had not expected Isabel to suddenly go back on her word.
