Chapter 235: Chapter 247: The Poisonous Mango (16)
Percy Stanton leaned back on the redwood carved chair, gave a smile, picked up the cup of tea poured by Edward Shaw, took a slow sip, and said, "Thank you, Mr. Shaw."
Edward Shaw poured tea for Isabel Smith, Lily Adams and himself, then put down the teapot, looked at Percy Stanton and said, "I have known Mr. Stanton since our time at Starhaven University."
Lily Adams picked up the hot tea on the side, hadn’t taken a sip, but hearing this, she couldn’t help but raise her head and curiously ask, "How did you get to know Mr. Stanton? Mr. Stanton is three years younger than you, he should be a few grades younger than you, right?"
"Rosie, you might not know this. At that time, Mr. Stanton was a genius in the Management Department, and he skipped three grades to be in the same class as us." Edward Shaw turned to his wife and explained briefly. Then he turned his head and looked at Percy Stanton with a joking smile, saying slowly, "I was afraid that Mr. Stanton would overshadow me, so I chose the Economics Department instead."
Percy Stanton restrained his expression and said, "Mr. Shaw was quite outstanding in the Economics Department at that time."
Isabel Smith had always known that Percy Stanton was a graduate of Starhaven University. When she was young, she was pampered and didn’t want to go to school, so she entered school a year later than her peers. Furthermore, Percy Stanton was only a year older than her. She always thought that he would be her senior by a year or two, but it turned out that he was actually several grades above her.
Perhaps Lily Adams felt that Isabel was being too quiet, so she turned her head with a smile and asked, "Miss Smith, which university did you graduate from?"
Embarrassment surged in Isabel’s heart as she had attended Starhaven University for only one year before dropping out to go to the United States. She hadn’t even obtained a diploma since then. She lowered her gaze and calmly said, "I also used to be a student at Starhaven University."
Edward Shaw continued the conversation, laughing twice and saying, "If it wasn’t for Rosie back then, you guys might be calling me your senior right now."
Back then, he messed with Lily Adams and ended up with a broken arm, missing his exams and repeating a year. From then on, his life became completely entwined with hers.
Edward Shaw’s words caused Lily Adams’ face to change, and she snorted with her nose.
Edward Shaw hurriedly sat up straight, grinned and wrapped his arm around Lily Adams’ shoulder, then soothingly said, "But I like being in the same grade as my Rosie, so we can grow and progress together with equal status."
Lily Adams was amused by Edward Shaw’s words, giving him a side glance. But she didn’t show the same willfulness as when Isabel first saw them together.
Afterward, the conversation revolved around the cooperation between "Ten Mile Prosperity" and Smith Corporation. This was discussed between Percy Stanton and Edward Shaw, while Isabel Smith and Lily Adams sat aside listening.
In the middle of the conversation, Lily Adams lazily yawned. Edward Shaw immediately apologized to Percy Stanton and turned to inquire, "Rosie, are you tired?"
Lily Adams waved her hand impatiently, picking up a toothpick and eating a piece of apple.
"Do you need me to take you back to sleep?" Edward Shaw asked again worriedly.
Lily Adams shook her head and didn’t even give Edward Shaw a response this time.
"Then wait for me a little longer."
This time, before Edward Shaw could finish speaking, Lily Adams frowned at him and irritably said, "Edward, you’re so annoying!"
Edward Shaw raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit wronged by Lily Adams’ words. Still, he said softly, "If you’re tired, just let me know."
Then he turned his head and continued the conversation with Percy Stanton.
Isabel Smith had been attentively listening to their conversation, but occasionally felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. As time went on, she became less focused.
