Chapter 233: Chapter 245: The Poisonous Mango (14)

So, without any hesitation this time, Isabel Smith spoke into the phone, "There’s nothing inconvenient."

When Percy Stanton heard Isabel’s calm as still water tone, and didn’t sense anything unusual, he calmly said, "Okay then, let’s meet at a tea restaurant on Ten Mile Prosperity Street at 3 p.m., I’ll come pick you up."

"Okay."

Once Isabel finished, she hung up the phone. She glanced at the time: it was just past one-thirty. She reluctantly lay back down on the bed.

When women have their period, they always become easily sleepy. She was afraid she would oversleep, so she forced herself awake and rested for half an hour before getting up and choosing an outfit from her wardrobe.

Once Isabel dressed and looked in the mirror, she realized her complexion was too pale, making her look weak. She took out her standby makeup set, and applied a glamorous look in front of the mirror, even adding some blush on purpose.

By the time Isabel finished with all of this, Percy’s call came in. She picked it up while changing her shoes and went straight to the street outside the apartment building.

She easily spotted Percy’s rather ordinary car, with the hazard lights blinking parked on the roadside. Isabel walked over, opened the car door, and got in.

Perhaps it was because Isabel was always without makeup ordinarily, she had suddenly put makeup on today. When she got in the car, Percy looked at her more than twice through the rearview mirror, before turning the steering wheel and starting to drive.

It was a bit early now, the road wasn’t congested, and the car smoothly arrived on the street of "Ten Mile Prosperity."

As it was the weekend, the parking lot around "Ten Mile Prosperity" was full. Percy dropped Isabel off on the street of "Ten Mile Prosperity" and went off to park the car himself.

The tea restaurant they had booked in advance was right across from the "Ten Mile Prosperity" main company. Isabel easily found it. Since she forgot to ask Percy under whose name the reservation was made, she just stood by the entrance of the restaurant while waiting for Percy.

In less than five minutes, a man and a woman came out from the "Ten Mile Prosperity" company across the street and went straight to the tea restaurant across from them.

The couple seemed to be in their late twenties, both handsome and beautiful, drawing a lot of attention. Isabel couldn’t help but look a few more times, and saw that the two seemed to be arguing.

The woman’s face was full of dissatisfaction, while the man was desperately trying to please her with a smile on his face.

Along the way, some people who appeared to know the couple went up to greet them from time to time. Every time this happened, the woman would immediately put on a friendly smile and nod in response, while the man ceased his ingratiating smile and responded with an arrogant nod.

Isabel found this couple to be rather interesting and couldn’t help but pay attention.

When the couple got to a spot not far from her, the man said something and the woman suddenly stopped, turned around, glared at him angrily, and said, "Edward, why are you so annoying? You know, I told you I don’t want to eat a strawberry-flavored dessert, but you still put strawberries in the dessert you prepared for me."

"Rosie, it’s just a tiny bit, for decoration."

"But when I don’t want to eat it, seeing it annoys me. When I am annoyed, I won’t feel like accompanying you for business talks. But when I have to accompany you, even when I’m not in the mood, I have to pretend I am. And then my mood gets even worse."

With the man’s cajoling, the woman didn’t have any intention of cooling down. Instead, she was even more annoyed and pulled out some ludicrous illogic in her rant against the man.
