If the child is currently in the United States, then let him stay there for the time being. It won’t be too late to bring him back when the right opportunity arises."

Isabel just hummed in agreement without saying anything.

There was a sudden silence in the office. After a long time, Mrs. Smith spoke again, "Isabel, is the child a boy or a girl? And who is the father?"

"A boy." During her prenatal examination, she had seen the ultrasound image, and the doctor had told her it was a boy. But as for the father of the child, Isabel truly didn’t know how to answer.

Mrs. Smith watched Isabel’s silence and shook her head fiercely, "Six years ago, when the doctor found out that you were pregnant, I asked you who the father of the child was. If you had spoken up then, Grandma would have decided that you would get married, and there would be no need for all this secrecy now."

Isabel frowned, remaining silent but with a calm expression, and turned to leave Mrs. Smith’s office.
