Chapter 209: Chapter 221: Lovers Also Have Self-esteem (6)
Percy Stanton raised an eyebrow, showing no sympathy for his son’s complaint, and nonchalantly said, "Raymond, you should be glad it wasn’t me as your teacher. I would have made you copy ’The Peasant’s Pity’ ten times!"
Raymond’s little face crumpled up immediately, glaring at Percy angrily. Before he could speak again, he suddenly heard laughter from within the car.
Frowning harder, Raymond lifted his head with some dissatisfaction to see that there was someone else sitting beside Percy. He stood on tiptoes, trying to see who it was, and muttered softly, "Father, did you get a new girlfriend?"
Isabel Smith had been feeling somewhat depressed, but seeing Raymond seemed to mysteriously lift her spirits. Unable to hold back her laughter at his innocent words, she leaned over and asked, "Raymond, did you get in trouble at school today?"
The last person Raymond expected to pick him up with his father was not a new girlfriend, but Sister Isabel. His face flushed instantly, and he obediently picked up his kettle and school bag, walked around the car to Isabel’s side, opened the car door, climbed onto her lap, and hugged her waist tightly, asking, "Sister Isabel, did you come to pick me up from school on purpose today?"
Although Isabel hadn’t specifically come to pick up Raymond, he didn’t wait for her answer to his question. With his blushing face, he blinked his long lashes, looking expectantly at her and said, "Sister Isabel, my bad mood from school has turned so much better now."
Percy sat aside, listening to his little grown-up son sweet-talking, and couldn’t help but snort and turn his head.
Isabel was amused by Raymond’s cunning words and couldn’t help but hug him back. Feeling Isabel’s tender embrace, his face reddened further, and he clasped her waist even tighter, his sweet talk never ceasing, "Sister Isabel, if only my teacher could be as gentle as you!"
Percy looked at his son clinging to Isabel and twisting his waist, furrowing his brows, and suddenly feeling that inviting Isabel along to pick up Raymond from school was a mistake.
Feeling a touch of annoyance, he yelled at his son, "Raymond, we’re going home now. Get off Sister Isabel’s lap and sit in the rear car seat."
"It’s okay, I can hold him," Isabel turned to Percy and said, her warm smile still on her face as she spoke to Raymond. It was a beautiful smile, but it only made Percy feel more stifled.
To make things even more suffocating for Percy, Raymond snuggled against Isabel and looked at him, saying, "Father, Sister Isabel says she wants to hold me, so I want to let her."
Percy furrowed his brows, resisting the urge to yank his son out of Isabel’s arms, and said slowly and deliberately, "Raymond, just yesterday, you said you gained 2.5kg, and if you lay on Sister Isabel like this, you’ll tire her out."
"It’s all right," Isabel quickly assured him with a smile.
Still holding Isabel’s waist, Raymond pouted hesitantly for a moment before finally obeying and climbing off her lap, "Sister Isabel, I’m afraid you’ll be tired, so I’ll go sit in the back."
Isabel reached up to pat Raymond’s head, worried about the child sitting alone in the backseat, so she too unbuckled her seatbelt, grabbed Raymond’s school bag, and got out of the car, "How about Sister sits with you in the back?"
