Bug Abuse? I Swear I'm Just Playing Normally!
Ch. 40 - The Snow Pea Appears: The Plants Advance!

📢 New Novel Launch!

Seeing the endless swarm of ghosts drawn in by his title, Bai Wan touched the sunflower on his shoulder. It was time to fight back.

Hh-huh…Sob…Wuuu

Amid the weeping cries, the horde of ghosts surged toward him. The dense ghostly aura withered the surrounding grass and plants in its wake.

Just as the ghosts pressed forward, four dull-eyed giant wall-nuts appeared in front of them. The ghosts froze, staring blankly at the nuts.

So…fat.

Never seen such plump humans before. Must be delicious.

Just as that thought crossed their minds, they watched, stunned, as the four fat “humans” absorbed sunlight and started swelling in size. Each nut was now more than twice the size of a normal Wall-nut—proper Tall-nuts, sturdy enough to block even pole-vaulting zombies in PvZ.

But in reality, these nuts looked even more monstrously massive.

The Tall-nuts locked their blank gazes on the ghosts, then rolled forward with a rumble.

Whoosh!

The four giant Tall-nuts shot into the ghost horde like massive cannonballs, cutting through the air with a roar.

Boom!

Four boulders slammed through the mass of ghosts, sending them flying like bowling pins. Some ghosts were crushed and flattened on the spot, while the smaller ones were knocked far away by the Tall-nuts’ immense size.

The ghosts that were sent tumbling wore bewildered expressions. What the hell just rammed me?

In all their years as ghosts, it had been ages since they’d been run over by anything.

A scrawny ghost climbed up shakily, glancing at its own body in confusion — It sat up, rubbed its head, and even doubted itself for a second.

Did I reincarnate by mistake? Since when do ghosts get body-checked?

The Tall-nuts weren’t just huge; they were oddly nimble too. They rolled back into formation with precision, blocking any sly ghosts trying to slip past them. Four massive Tall-nuts formed a moving fortress, firmly stopping the ghosts in their tracks.

The ghosts were shocked. They’d never seen such agile fatties.

Failing to break through, they flew into a rage and lunged to bite the Wall-nuts. But just as they got close, four helmeted Gatling Peas peeked out from behind the Wall-nuts.

Then—the barrels spun. A storm of ferocious peas rained down on the ghosts.

Rat-a-tat-tat!!

The ghosts fell like dominoes, toppling layer by layer.

Bang bang bang!

They shuddered under the endless machine-gun peas — just like helpless villagers under a heavy barrage. A squad of four Gatling Peas began their merciless barrage.

The hail of peas stunned the ghosts.

What kind of high-tech was this?

Some older ghosts even recalled what their school teachers used to say in life: Science and education will strengthen the nation!

Their teacher hadn’t lied!

But ghost pride was on the line. They couldn’t back down now—they had to show these humans who ruled this graveyard!

Woooo!!

With chilling wails, the ghosts launched a counterattack. Even with four Gatling Peas firing non-stop, they couldn’t hold the whole line alone. The ghosts bared their fangs, ready to tear apart the big dumb Tall-nuts and then shred the cowardly peashooters hiding behind.

But reality is cruel.

No one noticed when four blue sprouts appeared atop the Tall-nuts. Each one was a tiny, icy figure—small but radiating a biting chill.

Shwaaa—!

Bathed in the sunflower’s light, the sprouts glowed blue and began to evolve.

Level 1 — to Level 2!

Level 2 Snow Peas didn’t just shoot frozen peas — they now had a chance to launch deadly ice spikes too.

The ghosts stared at the blue sprouts, a bad feeling creeping in. But before they could react—

Whoosh!

A frozen pea burst from an Ice Pea Shooter’s mouth and smashed straight into the ghost swarm.

Bang bang bang!

The unfortunate front-line ghosts were struck one after another, letting out pained screams as a bone-chilling cold spread through their bodies. Terrified, they realized frost was starting to creep across their skin.

The ones hit first were quickly consumed by the ice, and even those nearby weren’t spared, an eerie blue began to spread through the swarm, the cold rippling outward like a stain. Horror rose in their eyes as they felt their movements grind to a crawl—sluggish as tortoises.

And worse—every now and then, an ice spike shot out, whistling through the air.

Whoosh!

A shimmering ice spike fired from the shooter’s mouth, slicing through the ghost swarm. It skewered three ghosts in one shot before losing momentum, leaving a trail of frozen bodies.

Level two Snow Peas’ ice spikes weren’t just stronger—it could pierce through multiple enemies. One after another, the spikes turned the battlefield into a frozen graveyard.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

More spikes—more ghosts pinned like skewers. Combined with the Gatling Peas’ steady barrage, the horde was forced back, step by step. The ghost tide buckled again.

Plants vs. Zombies Ghosts—the battlefield locked in a deadly stalemate.

Seeing the chance, Bai Wan reached for his Sunflower and pulled out two bright red cherries. He lobbed them straight into the ghost horde.

Thud!

The cherries rolled to a stop among the ghosts, swelling up bigger and bigger.

What is that?

Before they could figure it out — BOOM!

A massive blast in the shape of a cherry erupted in the middle of the ghost swarm, tearing through the horde.

KABOOM!!

Twin mushroom clouds rose into the sky.

The blast sent ghosts flying; those at ground zero lost limbs instantly. The furious ghost tide that had been roaring moments before was suddenly dead silent.

But from the tombstones, fresh ghosts continued to crawl out.

Seeing this, Bai Wan’s eyes turned cold. “More crawling out of tombstones, huh? Fine!”

Shwaaa—!

He poured another wave of sunlight into the sunflower—the meter that had been more than half full plummeted to a third.

A dozen black vines shot out toward the tombstones. They wrapped around the gravestones, rows of jagged teeth chomping down and gnawing without mercy.

Chomp chomp!

This was the Grave Buster — the plant built to eat tombstones whole!

A row of tombstones vanished under the chomping vines. The air rang with the ghostly wails of the dying graves.

Boom boom boom!

Some of the weaker tombstones collapsed entirely, blowing apart in bursts of dirt and screams under the vines’ relentless chewing.

The ghosts’ assault lost momentum immediately.

Sun Qian, Wang Jian, and even Su Yuening were left speechless. Watching this all-out brawl, they wondered if they were dreaming.

They had never imagined anyone could stand firm against a ghost tide like this. This terrifying horde was being held back by Bai Wan alone.

Watching the plants tear into the ghosts, Sun Qian and the rest fell silent.

Are we even playing the same game? Isn’t this just tower defense?

With no chance to help, they felt like a useless pile of brains waiting to be eaten.

This man’s ability is insane. One man, solo, holding back a ghost army—and now even the graveyard itself was getting devoured.

Watching the cursed burial ground be chewed up, Sun Qian’s mind went blank.

They’d heard rumors that the mysterious rookie ‘Family’ had broken the ghost ship dungeon. They hadn’t believed it—how could anyone break a whole dungeon? They’d even laughed at the rumors.

Now, watching Bai Wan and his army of plants eating through ghosts and tombstones like snacks... Maybe that rumor wasn’t a rumor after all.

They felt they were witnessing another legendary moment:

‘Family’ — breaking another dungeon right before their eyes.
