Chapter 98: What Rage wants [2]

It seemed that the older man was already informed of his arrival, and having known his son’s personality, he knew he’d come home destructively. He stood at the forefront, not even flinching at Azrael’s attempt to run him over.

His phone was against his ear as he watched his son step out of the car and face him with a furious look. He smirked at Azrael and cocked at the entrance, gesturing for the child to enter already.

Azrael didn’t beat around the bush and rushed inside. If it were not for the four men who quickly stood in front of Rage, Azrael would have grabbed his father’s collar without guilt at all.

Rage put his phone down and smiled at his son, "It’s been a while. I haven’t seen you in weeks, son, what have you been doing up to lately, huh?"

"Don’t give me that bullshit. As if you don’t know what I did," Azrael spat, glaring at his father. He couldn’t remember when was the last time they fought like that. After his mother died, he moved out and lived on his own, completely freeing himself from his father’s influence.

Azrael had tried his best to earn the trust of all the biggest shareholders of the DV Group, and having inherited all his mother’s stakes and properties, after paying the inheritance tax, he used all the money to buy off the shares of one of the major stockholders in his father’s company.

Rage allowed him to do so, thinking he was making a name on his own, and walking the same path he did. However, over time, Azrael became a more prominent and significant figure than he was.

Even so, Rage still trusted his son and gave him the position of chief executive, only to get backstabbed in the end. Now, even if he was the chairman of the board, Azrael’s presence in the company had gained more supporters and brought more achievements, so stripping him of his position was no longer an option to tame him again.

As proud as he was of his son who had never shown any weakness before, he couldn’t help but feel grateful for Azrael having found one at last.

Rage opened his arms widely as he spoke, "Ah, of course, son, I heard about it. You were being disobedient again, giving me headaches just like when you were little. I told you I’d punish you if you disobeyed, didn’t I? Why do you keep being stubborn?"

Azrael suppressed his anger. He reminded himself to calm down and prolong the conversation to keep his father away from checking his phone.

He breathed deeply; his nails clawed on his palms. Rage noticed his son’s hands; he looked down and clicked his tongue upon seeing the newly wrapped bandage.

"It’s been more than two weeks, and yet your hand still hasn’t healed? How deep is your wound?"

Azrael wanted to ignore his father’s questions and just directly asked where Knox was. However, he reined the growing impatience and answered coldly, "Deep enough that it requires stitches."

"Oh, it’s surprising that your palm wasn’t cut off then," Rage answered with a raised eyebrow. He expressed his disappointment at the insanity Azrael showed during their last meeting. "You shouldn’t hurt yourself like that, son. You’re the only child I have. You’re so precious to me that I didn’t even get a wink to sleep when I saw you bleeding."

Rage sighed and gave Azrael a baffled look, "Why would you even do that? You’ve been so obedient all this time, but because of some omega you can find anywhere and buy, you were misbehaving. I can’t tolerate—

"How dare you. Knox isn’t ’some’ omega you can buy and let loose in your night district!" Azrael seethed in rage. He was beginning to lose patience. His hands were already trembling from the intense anger he was holding back.

Rage smirked, aware of his son’s inner turmoil, "Ah, so, where did you find him them, son? The slums? I heard he was an orphan whose father was ridden by debt and hanged himself, and his poor mother died in the hospital bed after. Did he perhaps seduce you into taking him in? You had an omega aversion before, so I could understand if crave an omega now. But you could have at least picked a more suitable one for you. What benefits can you even get from him other than sexual pleasure?"

Azrael’s losing patience finally snapped.

He lunged at the four men guarding his father. He kicked the one who held his arm and elbowed the stomach of the one at his back. However, they quickly got back up and struck him in the back of his knee.

He bent but grabbed the guy on his left and pulled himself up, before landing an uppercut on the guy he grabbed. That guy got thrown to the glass wall, while the three remaining jumped him all at once.

One was clinching him from the back, and the other two were locking each of his arms.

Azrael growled and shrugged them off, but the three weren’t budging. Rage walked to them and dropped his icy stare on Azrael.

With gritted teeth and eyes filled with contempt, Azrael asked menacingly, "What do you want?"

Rage smiled. Satisfaction danced in his eyes. He cocked his head and answered, "Proceed with my plans, of course. Everything was already prepared. What’s only missing now is the groom. If you wait at the end of the aisle patiently and sign the official papers, then I will free that omega. Until then, I will make sure he will be taken care of properly."

Inside his pocket, Azrael’s phone vibrated. He was certain it was a message from Kayden that the system run was already finished. He masked his relief by expressing hatred and extreme displeasure at what his father said.

He acted like he was troubled, torn between choosing his own happiness and the safety of his beloved. He lowered his head dramatically as a sign of surrender.

Rage nodded to the three men. Azrael slumped on the floor like a defeated warrior. Rage crouched before him and patted his head as if he were praising a dog that came home after getting lost.

"You did well, son. I will have them prepare your suit already. My soon-to-be daughter-in-law was already informed and prepared, so you already have to appear at the event." He gestured for his secretary standing by the corner, "Help him prepare for his big day."

Thankfully, Azrael’s head was lowered, otherwise, his father would have seen his astonished reaction to the quick turn of events.

How come Diva agreed to marry him?! Did she betray him? Or like him, she was also forced with her family? Azrael paused to ponder. But soon answered his own questions as well, ’Of course, it was the ’Del Valle’ she’s marrying into. His family changed their mind as soon as Rage brought up the marriage again.’

As he was helped to stand by the servant, Azrael cursed under his breath. He would go along with that little play, but as soon as he received word that they found Knox’s location already, he’d bolt out the door.

Diva can marry the priest or the pastor or whoever. And Rage can go rampaging in his own name for all he cares.
