Chapter 96: Rescue operation [2]

Shawn extended his hand to Azrael as he answered, "Give me your phone. I’ll download the app now. Then, you have to be in a three-meter radius to your father for at least five minutes. After that, you can leave and I’ll handle it from then."

Azrael unlocked his phone and handed it to Shawn.

The omega carefully took the phone while wiping his forehead with the handkerchief Athan gave. He looked down and bit his tongue after seeing the home screen wallpaper on Azrael’s phone.

Shawn, "Ack!"

"What happened?" Kayden immediately checked on him. His eyes darted on the phone Shawn was holding and his face crumpled. He gave Azrael an accusing look.

It was Knox’s sleeping face; half of his right cheek was buried in the white pillow and a white blanket was draped up to his shoulders, hiding his clothes and giving off a thought that he might be naked underneath.

The only colors in that photo were white and shades of brown. From Knox’s light brown hair sprawled against the white pillow, to his skin bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, painting his pale skin into a golden brownish color.

Azrael glared at them. But when Athan peeked as well, he was alarmed and almost snatched the phone back.

Sighting the picture, the tip of Athan’s eyebrows twitched uncontrollably. His teeth grated from subduing his urge to punch the Azrael opposite from him. Even just a quick glimpse, he could tell where it was taken.

The overly white room in that villa Knox stayed in the resort.

Shawn quickly hid the phone and finished what he must do. After that, he gave it back to Azrael with a flushed face. His thoughts were visibly plastered on his face, which only annoyed Athan more.

He couldn’t take it anymore, so he spat with a subdued voice, "Taking a photo of a sick person without their permission is illegal. Delete it."

Azrael quickly pocketed his phone and stood, "I’m off to meet my father now."

A vein popped in Athan’s forehead. He stood as well, balling his hands into fists. Shawn noticed the tension, so he quickly blabbered, "Right! Mr. Azrael, you have to stay for five minutes closer to your father and never let him get suspicious or check his phone while the operation is running! Understood?!"

He gasped after realizing that he just yelled and ordered the scary alpha. He unintentionally tugged on Athan’s cuff and lowered his shaky voice, "I...ah...I mean, the phone will be frozen for a few minutes while the app is overtaking its system, so y-you mustn’t let him see it...please."

"Understood," Azrael replied, unbothered by Shawn’s actions.

Shawn sighed in relief, "I will tell Dr. Kayden when it’s done, so he can message you...sir."

"Got it."

With that, Azrael bolted out the door without glancing back. His steps were hurried. Everyone left in the room wondered if it was because of the situation or if he was getting away from Athan to save his wallpaper.

"Will it work?" Kayden anxiously inquired.

Shawn nodded, "I’ve used it before."

"That’s great. This app...did you create it?" Kayla asked, looking at Shawn with interest. When Shawn nodded, a smile formed on her face and she excitedly blurted out, "What do you think about working for me?"

Shawn, "Eh?"

Kayla, "Well, you—

"This is not the right time for that, sister!" Kayden yelled. Kayla stared at him but soon just rolled her eyes.

She stood and spoke, "Fine. Mr. Williams, come with me. You’ll have to discuss this with the system specialists, so they won’t kick you out once the operation begins. Will they be able to tell which one is your user?"

"Yes..."

Kayla and Shawn went down to the control room while Athan and Kayden were left in silence. Athan walked to the door. Kayden followed him while he asked, "Where are you going?"

Athan answered casually, "Follow them."

"The control room is off-limits to non-authorized personnel. Let’s move to the training room. I have to gather a group to get ready to rescue Knox once we receive the location from Shawn," Kayden remarked.

He walked ahead while Athan followed without answering. Once they reached the entrance, before they entered, Athan spoke, "Thank you for helping us. You’re a big help. Of course, I’ll compensate for your services."

Kayden shrugged his shoulders, and answered lightly, "Knox is a friend to me...so, it’s only natural to help. But I won’t refuse the payment. It’s not my company anyway. The agency belongs to my sister."

"I heard. She seemed impressed by Shawn’s abilities. No offense but, is your sister’s company running legally?" Athan cautiously asked. If Azrael’s father can pull something like kidnapping, then it wouldn’t be strange if he had other illegal activities on the sidelines. And the Montgomerys are his relatives.

Kayden understood his concerns, so he answered honestly, "My sister’s leading the agency into new and righteous ways. If you asked me before she took over, I’d honestly say no. But Kal is against the idea of using our father’s hard-built company for illegal businesses anymore, so she’s cutting off the rotten parts. Azrael is doing the same as well."

Athan scowled, "You can’t stop the decay if the root is the most rotten part. I know he’s helping us to find Knox, but my father and I won’t just let this slide. Chairman Del Valle will pay for this."

Kayden turned away. He worried that his sickly mother would be distressed once she found out that her brother might get thrown in jail. If it’s another family, Rage would just use the money to bribe everyone to dismiss the case.

But it was the Horaces.

If Rage Del Valle knew that Knox was Chairman Horace’s son, would he still opt to kidnap him?

It will be a hard, tiring battle between two wealthy, powerful, and influential families. And what’s caught in between is Azrael and Knox, and so is their child.

Kayden couldn’t help but feel sorry for his cousin. Even if Knox is rescued, he’s more likely to be kept away from Azrael.

’That bastard will lose his mind if they hide Knox away,’ Kayden thought as he slid the door open.

Meanwhile, in the abandoned place where Knox was kept, the sky dimmed and lightning struck followed by thunders. Knox jolted awake by the noise. He blinked many times as he tried to register in his mind what was happening.

Soon, the rain fell, completely waking him up.

The part he was tied into didn’t have a roof, so his body was completely soaked from the rain. His wet t-shirt hugged his body. Knox quickly folded his knees to hide his chest. However, a person already saw him and whistled from the dark.

His heart began pounding erratically. He futilely shook his tied hand behind him. He only stopped struggling when the shadow showed its face, grinning widely at Knox while running his eyes all over him.
