Chapter 95: Rescue operation

Shawn looked at Athan and Kayden with wonder. They both looked as though they almost peed their pants. He pondered and, soon, he realized their actions. His forehead broke into a sweat and he gulped.

Athan looked at Shawn who returned his gaze with understanding. He sighed and put his hands down. He turned to Kayla and answered her question calmly, "I just don’t think Knox will like it if his relationship with this guy is revealed to anyone."

Shawn scratched his head and quietly muttered, "I was just asking if he was K-Knox’s boyfriend...sorry, Sir Athan, I didn’t mean to probe."

"That’s fine," Athan glanced at Kayden. "It seems everyone here knew it already."

Kayla spoke, "Well, it’s obvious. My cousin is losing his head over your younger brother after all."

Kayden cleared his throat and brought up the plan again. He looked at Azrael who was staring at Shawn suspiciously. He elbowed the guy on the arm and asked Shawn with a nervous smile, "Can you show us the footage?"

Shawn replied without looking at Kayden, "Sadly, someone deleted all the footage at the time Knox was kidnapped. I’m trying to retrieve it but it’ll take time. However, not all of the CCTV footages in the building are deleted. We managed to sort out all the recorded videos."

Shawn turned his laptop around to Azrael and Kayden, "The kidnappers were really informed. They knew all the blind spots in the building and made sure their faces weren’t caught. These are all the photos caught in the camera."

Kayla narrowed her eyes at the image of two men walking out of the fire exit of the building. Azrael leaned and zoomed in on the image of one guy wearing a jacket and mask walking behind the other guy who was carrying Knox.

He tilted his head. The guy was familiar, but he couldn’t remember where he had seen him.

Kayla slowly shook her head, "The image didn’t help. I can’t recognize their faces, so I don’t know."

Azrael typed on his phone and soon a knock on the door was heard. It opened and Roy entered. He bowed to the people inside and waited for Azrael’s order. Azrael gestured for him to come closer and pointed at the screen.

He stated, "This guy seems familiar. But I can’t remember who. Roy, you’re always been tailing me since I took over the company. Do you remember him?"

The older guy leaned in; his eyes squinted as he pondered for a while. After a few minutes, his furrowed eyebrows straightened as recognition showed on his face.

All of them waited for Roy’s answer with bated breath.

Roy said, "His lower face was hidden but from his gait and posture, I see the guy who was once nominated as your personal bodyguard, sir. Before you chose me, the chairman was planning to put that person beside you. Do you remember, sir?"

Realization dawned in Azrael. "Yes. I remember now. I declined it because I knew he won’t be loyal to me but to my father. He’s a...recessive alpha. F*ck!" Turning to Kayden with panic, he anxiously asked, "Will Knox be affected by that bastard pheromones? You said it was slowly fading—

"Let’s hope not, Azi."

"WHAT THE F*CK CAN ’HOPING’ DO?!"

Azrael’s voice resonated in the whole room, along with his rampaging pheromones. Shawn flinched from the thickness of the scent in the air. He quickly covered his lower face with his hands, but he was startled when a soothing scent covered him as if shielding him from Azrael’s raging scent.

A handkerchief appeared before his lowered head. He took it and looked at Athan gratefully. Kayden saw that exchange and he felt a pang on his chest. He averted his eyes but they landed on Kayla who arched her brows at him.

Kayden calmed Azrael, "Have you forgotten what Kal said? It’s confirmed now that he’s working for your father. He won’t do anything out of his orders." Turning to Shawn again, he asked, "You asked if Azi’s willing to risk his father’s safety, why?"

Shawn cleared his throat and took his laptop back. "To find Knox, I have to hack into your father’s messages, if he uses another phone to contact his lackeys, then I have to plant hidden tracking apps on his phone, in case he tries to visit Knox.

"Infiltrating a system will make it vulnerable for the moment. Does your father have a lot of enemies? If he does, and they’re all just waiting for the right moment to swoop in, then all data on his phone, including all his transactions and other things might be taken.

"I asked because you will be the one to execute the plan. I’ll download a feature on your phone and you have to be in proximity to your father in order for the app to acknowledge your father’s devices. Once it does, I’ll have to insert an app into the connection using your phone, this will create a flaw in your father’s device and that’s when I’ll exploit the vulnerability."

Shawn paused for a moment, contemplating if he should continue to contradict his proposition. What if the guy thinks that his father’s safety is more important? Or what if he asks for an alternative after hearing the cons? Time is their utmost enemy. They don’t know what is happening to Knox, so they must hurry, however possible.

Azrael voiced out, not even a hint of hesitation in them, "Do it."

Shawn stiffened. He bit his lower lip and nodded. Still, he felt awful not explaining further, so he continued, "But that would also mean that I’m not the only one who can do it. I’m basically opening the door for others, and until I’m finished gathering all the data I need, it won’t be closed."

Azrael firmly repeated, "Do it."

Kayla let out a loud sigh. She rubbed her forehead and somehow felt sorry for her uncle. The only son he has was selling him to his enemies without hesitation. But if something happened to Rage, then her mother, Rage’s twin sister, might be distressed.

Kayden also thought the same as they exchanged glances. Kayla then commented, "Don’t worry about the vulnerability. I will have the technical team gatekeep the data while you’re doing your job. How long will it take?"

Shawn answered, "Ten minutes at least. Thirty at most. The app will be automatically deleted after thirty minutes and the system will be back to normal, traces will be deleted as well."

Kayla nodded in amazement. A hacking system that deletes all traces automatically. That will be dangerous if falls into the wrong hands. She opened her mouth to suggest something but Azrael cut her off.

"Then, do it now. What do I have to do?" he asked impatiently.
