Chapter 94: It’s you! [2]

The door pushed open and revealed Athan Horace who greeted the three with the same serious and stony look.

Shawn followed behind, carrying a backpack with him. His eyes met Kayden, but he immediately averted them away.

Kayden looked away as well. He sat back on his seat and glared at Azrael, "Will you sit here and let me take care of your bloodied hands now?"

Azrael heard Kayden, but he refused to break his eye contact with Athan, who seemed ready to lunge at him at any second. Kayla faked a cough again. She stood and pointed to the sofa, "Please, have a seat. I’m Kayla Montgomery, by the way. I’m the president of this company."

Athan walked to the female alpha and shook her hand, "Athan Horace, President of the HZ Clothing Brand. And this is Shawn Williams."

Shawn slightly bowed his head to Kayla who returned a small smile. Then, she focused on Athan again.

"Oh! So, it was you. You’re also Chairman Horace’s youngest son, right?" Kayla responded for the sake of breaking the tension in the air due to his and Azrael’s glaring.

Athan replied, "No, I’m not. I have a younger brother who was kidnapped. I came here to request for your company’s service. But it seemed that someone already beat me into it."

Kayla was rendered speechless. Not only due to Athan’s uninterested tone in engaging to converse but also because of that piece of information he casually dropped in the room.

Azrael snarled, "What did you expect? We’re related."

"I don’t care about that. If you’re already asking for their help to find Knox, then tell me the results now. Have you found where he is?" Athan fumed, "The police aren’t cooperating until twenty-four hours passed. I can’t wait that long sitting in my office. Help me find him, Del Valle."

Azrael furrowed his brows, seemingly upset at Athan’s words, and then he spat, "You don’t have to tell me that." He sat next to Kayden, and like an obedient dog, he held out his right hand to him and let him treat his opened wound.

Seeing those bloody patches on Kayden’s collars, and the drops of blood on the floor, Athan pondered why Azrael was still conscious. Anyone might have fainted from blood loss already, but Athan couldn’t care less.

He sat on the seat gestured by Kayla, pulling Shawn beside him.

"So, what’s the plan?" Kayla began. She mouthed something to her male employee, then he nodded and walked out the door. Now there were only the five of them left in the room.

Kayla was seated on the single-seater between the two couches, while Kayden and Azrael were sitting across from Athan and Shawn.

Athan spoke next, "Shawn is good at hacking and infiltrating a database. If we can identify one of the kidnappers and catch him, Shawn can use his phone to locate Knox, or find anything that might tell us his location."

Azrael weighed Athan’s strategy. When it seemed like a possible idea, he nodded his head slightly and replied, "We haven’t found anything yet, you just called a few minutes ago. Though I would have if these two hadn’t stopped me."

"We stopped you from going berserk," Kayden poured a bottle of betadine on the wound. Azrael needed to be stitched again, but he no longer dared to suggest it as he could see him flatly refusing. So, he just wrapped his gash in a gauze.

The doctor looked at Athan, "We just heard it from you. We haven’t taken any action yet. Do you have any footage of what happened? If we can recognize one person, we can tell if he’s working under us or not."

Athan froze. With an accusing voice, he yelled, "Work under us? Are you saying Knox’s kidnappers might be one of your men?!"

Kayla put up her hand, "Calm down, Mr. Horace."

"Tell me why you think that way first," Athan stared at Kayden, waiting for an answer.

However, it was Azrael who did, "They might be one of my father’s men, who works under this agency. My father...must be involved here. So, you’re right. If something happened to Knox, it must be because of...no. It was because of me. I’m sorry this happened. But know that whatever happened, I’m ready to do everything to find Knox. Trust me."

Kayla and Kayden were flabbergasted. That was the first time they heard Azrael speak humbly, and worse, apologize first!

Athan stiffened. All this time, he kept thinking that it was because of his father’s revelation that Knox was kidnapped. He feared that they only put his life in danger because of their selfishness.

But to hear that it was because of a completely unrelated matter to the family, he felt awful for being relieved.

Athan shut his eyes tightly. He could hear the anxiousness and dread in Azrael’s voice. The man who shamelessly whispered those disgusting words about Knox was like an abandoned puppy in the middle of the storm. Lost and frightened.

Right to the point, Azrael’s owner was missing. Without Knox, he won’t be the same again.

"Then, are you willing to put your father’s safety in the line here?"

Azrael turned to Shawn, the one who threw him that question. He didn’t pay much attention when Athan and Shawn entered, as his mind was occupied with Knox’s incident. But finally focusing on the guy next to Athan, he recognized he was the omega he had seen before.

He unconsciously muttered, "You’re that little guy’s father."

Shawn’s forehead creased. He tilted his head in wonder, trying to discern what Azrael meant. Kayden was taken aback. It seemed that not only him misunderstand Shawn as Knoa’s father. Before he could change the topic, Shawn’s mouth opened upon realization.

"Oh! You’re that guy who fed Knoa a cake!" Shawn exclaimed. His eyes narrowed, as though he was assessing something. He recalled what the alpha said a minute ago about doing everything for Knox. Then, as his hazel eyes bore into Azrael’s facial features, Shawn gasped and pointed at the guy with his index finger, shouting with shock, "Then, are you Kno—mmph!"

Athan quickly clamped his hands on Shawn’s mouth, while Kayden threw the kit he was tidying and lurched forward to cover Shawn’s lips as well. He was caught in an awkward position since the distance was too wide.

Kayla asked, weirdly looking at the three of them, "What is it you guys are trying to hide?"
