Chapter 93: It’s you!

Kayden put his phone back after the call ended. Athan cut off the call so he had to ask Shawn for the alpha’s number to call him again. Thankfully, Athan still answered him and they talked. "Athan is requesting our service, sister. He wants the best personnel to track Knox down. Someone will come here to help with the tracking, so let’s wait until then—

"I’m leaving," Azrael stood, snatching his yet untreated hand from Kayla. "Waiting here won’t do anything."

Kayla tugged on the bloody bandage and glowered at her cousin, "What can you do? Rush in your father’s home and demand him to bring this Knox back to you? Do you think he’ll obey you just like that?! Think, Azrael! If your father kidnapped this person, then it means he probably knows how this guy was so important to you you’d barge into the lion’s lair without thinking!"

Kayla huffed and continued, "He kidnapped your important person not to turn you into a madman, but to put a leash on you! So, do you think he’d carelessly harm or kill this guy? Calm down and think rationally. What your father will ask of you wait for it. If that’s really what he intends to do, then he’ll seek you himself. Right now, what you need to do is plan ahead. And get back here, your hand needs a f*cking treatment."

"She’s right, Azi," Kayden agreed. He sat on the seat across from them and gave Azrael a serious look. "You won’t be able to find Knox just by facing your father this instant. You’re only going to prove to him how important Knox is to you, giving him more advantage in this matter. I know you’re worried, but Knox isn’t just your typical omega, is he? He was taken by surprise, but I’m sure he’s holding off against his kidnappers."

"HIS PHEROMONES ARE UNSTABLE! YOU’RE HIS DOCTOR, SO YOU MUST KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF HIS SCENT LEAKS! WHAT IF THOSE BASTARDS ARE ALPHA? WHAT IF THEY TOUCH HIM WHEN HE’S IN PAIN?! HE HYPERVENTILATES WHEN SOMEONE ALPHA BASTARD TRIES TO TOUCH HIM! HOW—

"KNOX ARDEN IS BONDED!" Kayden shouted back. He even stood out of desperation to calm his cousin. Azrael’s pheromones were becoming dangerous, and although there were only alphas inside that room, soon it won’t be.

Azrael was stunned upon hearing those words. So was Kayla. From Azrael’s shocked face, Kayla deduced that he wasn’t aware as well. So, she couldn’t help but think why would her cousin involve himself, let alone fall in love, to an omega who was already bonded?

Silence reigned in the room.

After a while, Azrael shook his head. "You’re lying. There wasn’t any mark on his nape when we...when I..."

Kayden grasped his forehead and squeezed his temples. He promised Knox not to tell the man, but he can’t hide the thing anymore. He sighed and answered, staring directly at his cousin, showing him his honesty, "The mark only appears when the omega is in heat during mating. Knox’s mark isn’t complete either. But it can still work as—

"Azrael!" Kayla’s panicked voice echoed in the entire room.

Kayden’s sentence wasn’t complete because Azrael lunged at him already, punching him in the face. Kayden’s glasses broke and his collar was painted red when Azrael grabbed it using his bleeding hand.

With a voice dripping with unrestrained fury, Azrael asked Kayden, "How long did you know? Did you f*cking know from the beginning?! You bastard! Why didn’t you say anything?!"

"Azrael, stop it!" Kayla pulled Azrael back with the help of her employee. However, Azrael’s grip on Kayden was so strong that they couldn’t tear him away.

Kayden coughed. He held Azrael’s hands and pulled them down to at least let him breathe. Then, he answered regretfully, "Knox asked me to keep it a secret. He pleaded and I promised. That’s why..."

"Azrael, let go! He’s turning blue already!!" Kayla hysterically shouted. She slapped Azrael’s back repeatedly.

Snapping from his anger, he quickly let go of Kayden’s collar. He breathed deeply to calm himself, but no matter how many times he exhaled, the bitter taste and torturous pain of finding that Knox was already bonded to someone was driving him crazy.

He grabbed his head and pulled his hair like a madman. Then, suddenly, his eyes flickered with menace. If that person Knox had a bond with were gone, there would be no problem. Knox will truly be his completely.

Slowly, Azrael looked down at Kayden, who was also catching his breath. He asked with a hardened face, "Who...who is it?"

Kayden looked up. From his position, Azrael seemed like a devil king looking down at his subordinates. The room became colder and it was as though Azrael’s background turned black, sending shivers down their spines.

Kayden gulped and answered, "Bastard...it’s you."

Azrael, "...what?"

He was dumbfounded. He clearly heard Kayden, but it seemed like his ears were just wanting to hear what he wanted most. Like his own delusion was deceiving him. He tilted his head, exhibiting a rather bewildered expression.

He asked again, "What?"

Kayden spat louder and firmer, "It was you, you bastard! You tried to mark Knox four years ago, but the attempt was incomplete as, per Knox’s words, he was against it and tried to evade it, so the bond was incomplete. However, incomplete it may be, it still protected him from alphas. So, Knox won’t be affected by the alpha’s pheromones, and vice versa!"

The doctor heaved a sigh of relief. But then he suddenly halted upon remembering the last meeting he had with Knox. His face showed hesitation and worry, "Well...that was the case before but..."

Azrael’s chest pounded, "But?"

"At his last check-up, he said he started to smell his father’s pheromones. It means the effect of the bond was fading, so he was beginning to become more aware of an alpha’s pheromones again."

"What?!" Azrael roared, ready to grab Kayden again.

Kayden quickly moved away and shouted back, "It still in eff—

There was a knock on the door that caught all their attention. A female voice came through, "Ms. President, Mr. Athan Horace has arrived. Should I let him in?"

Kayla eyed the two scoldingly. She cleared her throat and answered, "Let him in."
