Chapter 86: You own them, including me

Knox started to get suspicious. His chest throbbed as he began putting the clothes back. All the things inside are for men, so they can’t belong to Azrael’s ex-fiancée, then, there was only one option.

"That as*shole’s housing someone—

"Who are you calling an as*hole?"

Knox’s head spun in the direction of the sudden voice. He tried to hide his emotion, but his anger still flared upon seeing the innocent-looking face of the alpha, as though he didn’t notice where they were standing, or what was the cause of his indignation.

Truthfully, Azrael could tell Knox was enraged. Somehow, finding Knox jealous over some clothes that were obviously unused was amusing. He wanted to laugh at the omega’s scrunched face, however, he kept his cackles to himself, afraid of upsetting Knox even more.

"Who else?" Knox walked out, however, Azrael blocked him. He glared at the man and hissed, "Move."

Azrael bit his lower lip, suppressing the disobedient grin that wanted to cross his face. Knox’s sharp eyes and pouted lips were giving butterflies in his stomach and drumming his heart with happiness. With only a foot away from each other, Azrael was tempted to close that gap and erase those creased lines on Knox’s forehead with his kisses.

Knox began to feel impatient. He shoved Azrael with his shoulder, but the latter caught his waist and dragged him back like a sack of rice.

Knox flailed his hand around and kicked his feet, "Hey, can’t you put me down?! Why the need to carry me like this? I can follow you if you say so!"

"Sure. I’m sure you’ll just obey me like you used to. But I want to put an end to that contractual relationship. You already know by now that that’s just a ruse to get you back here," Azrael smirked as he looked down at Knox giving him a side glance. "Still, I hold you onto that if you tried to run away again."

Putting Knox down, Azrael grabbed the clothes the omega had taken earlier. He ripped the tag out of the collar and gave it to Knox. "Try it."

Knox just looked at him with suspicion.

It seemed that the omega had no plans to obey him and was adamant in patronizing him until he gave in. Azrael sighed resignedly, thinking, ’He won’t run away and call me creepy if told him everything here belongs to him, right?’

He never felt uncertain over something, nor fear those uncertainties. However, with Knox, he began threading carefully in his actions, and his emotions were spiraling to another space he never knew existed.

Azrael coughed once and reasoned, "I not keeping anyone here, Knox Arden. All of these... uhm, I bought them online and they delivered the wrong sizes, so I just...kept them here," he averted his eyes and pretended like he was regretting buying online.

Knox side-eyed the alpha. There’s a capitalized word pasted on his face, spelled L-I-E. Azrael wasn’t used to lying as he was always straightforward and cruelly honest. He always speaks his mind, which more or less consists of threats and curses, and always acts on it.

Looking away while mumbling that big fat lie, Knox once again was reminded of his little son. He shook the thought away, lest he’d be convinced to bring out the topic again. Waving his hand to Azrael, he spoke, "Okay, okay. I’ll believe you. How fortunate that everything here seems to fit to me, so I can just wear anything, right?"

Azrael answered immediately, "Yes, you can."

Knox nodded, "Then, leave. I’d like to take a bath now." He waited until the alpha left, but Azrael remained, seemingly contemplating something.

Knox arched his brows. "If there’s something you wanted to say, say it. But if it’s like ’how about bathing together?’, then please, get lost while I’m still being nice."

Azrael broke into laughter. ’Ahh, he’s just too cute. I want to gobble him up,’ he thought as he covered his mouth with his bandaged hand, while his left was on his stomach. Grinning widely behind his hand, Azrael responded, "That’s not it, but you just gave me an idea. Maybe next time. Go and take a bath, then come downstairs once you’re done. I’ll cook dinner."

Azrael left after that. Before he went to the bathroom, he took his phone and called Athan. It was already past six o’clock in the evening, so he already expected Athan’s nagging like a mother beyond the phone.

"Look, I’m old enough to take care of myself, okay! Don’t be too strict, Athan! Also, can you give the phone to Knoa?" It took several minutes to appease Athan. Knox told a lie, but as quick as he was, soon, Athan would know who he was with. It was easier to convince Knoa to stay the night at the mansion since he was already accustomed to that place.

After the call, he took a bath and went downstairs. The food was already set on the table; however, Azrael was nowhere to be seen.

Knox looked around but still failed to spot the guy even when he went to check the other room. Glancing out the floor-to-ceiling glass wall of the living room, he noticed two figures standing underneath the cantilevered part of the second floor, a pin light illuminating them.

Azrael was talking with someone Knox wasn’t acquainted with. He squinted his eyes to see the other man and sighed in relief after recognizing that it was an older man.

"Wait, why did I feel relieved? What was I thinking anyway? Maybe, that man is just his employee...though he looked familiar..." Knox muttered to himself. He saw the man hand a paper bag to Azrael. After Azrael took it, the older man bowed and was about to walk away until he noticed Knox beyond the transparent glass.

Roy bowed to Knox as well before walking to his car. Knox followed the man. His brows furrowed as he thought not only the stranger looked familiar, but the car as well. He waited until the car showed its back to check the car’s plate, however, he almost jumped in surprise after Azrael’s face appeared out of nowhere.

His mouth moved as he said something, but Knox only crumpled his face. He didn’t know how to lip read, so he just rolled his eyes at Azrael and peeked at his side, but the guy annoyingly bent his body and copied his movement.

When Knox finally got a glimpse of the car, it was already too far for him to see the plate number. Disgruntled, he slammed his hand on the wall, right on Azrael’s face. The guy didn’t even flinch and just stuck his tongue out to him, which infuriated Knox more.

He walked to the foyer and crossed his arms on his chest as he waited for Azrael. Doing so, a thought suddenly dashed in his head, ’Why are we both acting so childish?’

The door opened and Azreal walked in, quickly explaining things as if he couldn’t bear being misunderstood, "That man is my bodyguard, Roy. I asked him to buy these." Azrael lifted the paper bag with his left hand.

Knox took the paper bag from Azrael and checked its contents.

"Did your wound reopen?!" He shouted as soon as he saw them.

Azrael draped his left hand over Knox’s shoulders and guided him to the living room. "It bled. Let’s eat first—

"Did it bleed because you cook?"

"No. I think it was because of my driving..." Azrael’s voice trailed off when he received a scowl from Knox. He could already hear his nagging. But he took it as an opportunity and added, "That’s why I was driving so slow even with someone tailing us, didn’t I? I didn’t know it would still bleed though."

Knox suddenly felt bad. He took Azrael’s injured hand and checked it. The bandage was sloppy and looked like it had already been readjusted to hide the bleeding. "You should have let me drive..."

Out of the blue, Azrael asked unrelatedly, "Do you hear that?"

Looking up, Knox found Azrael’s thrilled look. Confused, he asked, "What is it?"

"My ears clapping from seeing your genuine concern. I feel like floating—

Knox grimaced and pulled the alpha, "Nonsense. Come on, let’s fix this." He sat Azrael on the sofa and brought out the basic medical supplies.

Knox started unwrapping the used bandage as he began scolding the twenty-nine-year-old alpha sitting obediently next to him. "How did this happen, by the way? To require stitches, it must be pretty deep. You should be more careful, and stop ignoring your wound. Don’t you feel pain at all, just looking at the length of this, I’m having goosebumps already. This might leave a scar on your palm, too."

"Will you find it ugly if it did?" Azrael seriously asked, sounding more concerned about Knox’s answer than the gash on his palm.

"Who cares about that? I don’t like seeing you hurt. Stay still."

Thankfully, the wound didn’t reopen totally. He pressed the cotton pad on the betadine and wiped it on the wound, before wrapping it on a new gauze.

He taped the ends and remarked after, "Okay, it’s done. Stop using your right hand to carry things for now." He tidied the supplies immediately but wondered when Azrael didn’t answer. Knox lifted his head and was met with an intense stare from Azrael dropping his gaze at him.

Knox paused.

Azrael was looking at him with expectation, yearning, and burning passion. Knox was rooted in his seat, even when he thought of breaking their eye contact and erasing that tense atmosphere settling between them, his body wasn’t listening.

As if he fell in the same trance Azrael was, Knox slowly inched his head closer the way Azrael did. Their foreheads met in the middle; the tips of their noses rubbing, and their hot breath mingling.

Knox closed his eyes. In a split second, their lips collided. Azrael kissed him like he was a beast starved for days. His left hand rested on the edge of the seat, caging Knox between his arm and the backrest.

Slowly, the weight of Azrael was pushing Knox to slide down. He supported his body with his elbows, the roll of gauge still on his hand. He started panting for air, his soft sounds hitting against Azrael’s muffled groans.

Knox pulled back to breathe for air, but after only a few breaths, Azrael’s lips came crashing down on him again, clutching his body much tighter and closer, until he felt something hard hitting against his thighs.
