Chapter 75: An obssessed alpha’s declaration

Knox woke up from a tight embrace and a warm feeling hitting his face. His long straight eyelashes fluttered as he slowly opened his eyes. He groaned after getting blinded by the sunlight cast upon his face.

The door to the balcony was closed, but the curtains weren’t fully laid, so the morning sun shone at them freely, waking him up. He pulled his arm up and covered his eyes with his elbow, then he turned to his side where Azrael’s sleeping handsome face was displayed inches away from him.

He frowned. Staring at the alpha’s peaceful countenance, Knox wondered that the world would have been a better place for him and Azrael’s acquaintances if only his eyebrows won’t met and his sharp eyes had stopped throwing daggers every time he was upset.

"You look innocent like a cherub if you’re asleep," Knox whispered.

He groggily sat up, rubbed his eyes, and looked down at the firm and muscled arm that shackled him to the bed. Forcefully, he yanked away the arm and fumbled with his indoor slippers. He couldn’t find them so, he walked barefoot to the restroom instead.

Knox washed his face. He even shuddered from the cold water running but realized it was the best way to wake him up completely. He had to face many things soon, so he better prepare early.

Going back to the room, he saw the tray of untouched food on the small table in the corner and felt bad for letting it sit and spoil after Athan made an effort to deliver him a meal. Walking to the other side of the bed where his luggage was, he noticed the indoor slippers on Azrael’s side.

Knox wondered how his slippers got in his side. He shrugged his shoulders to forget it and just wore the slippers, however, he hadn’t even worn the right piece when those large arms wrapped his thighs and squeezed them together, before pulling him backward to bed.

"Ack!"

"Where are you going?" Azrael asked with his low and husky voice. His tone sounded drowsy so Knox wriggled his legs to free himself while grabbing Azrael’s arms and ripping them apart each other. He thought it would be easier to pull him away since Azrael was still half asleep.

But his strength was like a child compared to an alpha, so he raised his arm and thoughtlessly elbowed him to where it hurt instead.

Azrael yelped in pain, "Ow!" He bent his body and let out an agonizing cry as he clutched his middle part. The bed creaked in his abrupt movement.

Knox’s eyes widened. A tinge of guilt flashed on his face.

He was freed, but instead of stepping away from Azrael, he knelt on the bed and remorsefully gawked at him, muttering nervously, "Oh, shit. I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to hit that spot! I was only trying to hit your stomach! Did it hurt a lot?!"

Azrael lifted his head buried in the pillow and glared at Knox, "You’re asking?! Why don’t you check if it’s hurt or not?"

Knox, "...huh?"

"Argh, do you hate me that much? You’re even cutting my generations to come from murdering my balls! You’re so cruel, Knox Arden," Azrael rubbed his crotch as he puckered his lips. Knox was dumbfounded.

He paused to ponder, ’Is he okay? Why did he sound like a whining thug getting hit in the balls instead? Is his brain on his dick?!’

"What are you thinking?" Azrael caught Knox’s attention again. He crumpled his face as he looked at Knox warily, "You’re not thinking of hitting me here again, are you? I won’t let you. Come and rub it, Knox. You elbowed it hard I almost see my ancestors—hey, where do you think you’re going?"

Knox turned his back on the blabbering man and stood, but got yanked back again. He fell on Azrael’s lap and was flustered after feeling his morning boner. He glared at the man and parted his lips, "Hands off, sir. I regretted hitting you on your...future lineage, but I’ll crush it this time if you force yourself on me again."

Azrael arched his brows, "I’m just waiting for an apology. Surely, you’re not going to leave me again without apologizing."

Knox frowned, "I already did. I kept saying sorry, didn’t I?"

Azrael, "That’s it? I’m not accepting your apology."

"I don’t care. Let me go," Knox snobbishly remarked. He slapped Azrael’s hand away and sat up.

A light chuckle escaped Azrael’s lips. Knox gazed at him with bewilderment, thinking that he was acting strange even yesterday, laughing and talking like he won the world. "Why do you look so happy?"

Knox ended up voicing out his thoughts.

Azrael smiled at him, ever so sincere and gentle that Knox started having goosebumps. It was as though the face of death was grinning at him. His forehead broke in a sweat and he gulped, waiting for Azrael’s hundred percent terrifying reason.

"Why wouldn’t I be? You don’t know how happy and relieved I was when I learned that Athan’s your brother. That bastard even told me that you’re ’his’ omega. Hah, I lost my shit that time, did you know? I should have claimed you mine back then." Azrael ran his fingers on Azrael’s exposed arm and smirked, "After all, you are my omega."

Knox shuddered from that declaration. The alpha’s tone was full of possessiveness and conviction. He sounded like no matter what, he’d claim Knox as his, come hell or high water. Azrael swelled with contentment after noticing the tremor in Knox’s orbs. He was being patient, waiting for the omega to be fully dependent on him, until he could claim him fully, without receiving any more rejection from Knox.

Knox blinked his eyes, and quickly averted them. Clenching his teeth, he rebutted firmly, "I’m not your omega."

"You aren’t right now," the alpha whispered, mischief dancing in his gray eyes. "But soon, you will be. Expect it. Be prepared. I’m not someone to look away once I find something I must possess. I always get it, no matter what. You should know I’m being overly considerate towards you because you’re not just ’something’, Knox. You’re ’someone’. If only you happened to be a precious stone or a beautiful painting, I would have bought you and displayed you in my room. But since you’re a human. I have to be patient and very, very considerate until you realize you can’t live without me." Azrael moved his head closer and gazed at Knox’s emerald eyes, ever so blunt and deep, so intense and burning, "Until you claim me your alpha, Knox Arden."

That morning, Azrael was kicked out of the room, while the door slammed shut on his face, hiding behind it was Knox’s reddened face. The tips of his ears were tinted pink, so as his neck and shoulders.

He tried his best to erase him from his mind and decided to prepare for his meet-up with the chairman. His phone vibrated and he received a message on the company’s group chat. He was informed about the departure time of every department’s team, and as the secretary, he had to check if the event’s clean-up was completed without a ruckus.

After taking a bath, he took the pouch where his suppressant medicines were. He fainted from the overwhelming pheromones of three dominant alphas yesterday, and now that he’d pondered about it, he recognized the scents.

The softly woody, rich, and seductive scent of sandalwood that Athan emits; the citrus-like and fruity accents with a hint of spice and rosy smell that gives off a herbaceous aroma, soft but warm green scent of germanium that belonged to the chairman; and the fresh, natural combination of earthy and woody aromas intermingling with the light breeze of the freshly drizzled forest that always soothes Knox, which owned by Azrael; were the scents filled with rage and suffocating aura they smelled on that day.

An alpha’s pheromones could turn into poison if filled with negative emotions. A forest in the dark could be so dangerous and frightening.

Without realizing it, Knox’s mind wandered again to the owner of that scent. He sighed as he recalled their conversation earlier. ’Until you claim me your alpha, Knox Arden,’ the words kept repeating in his head.

Every time it did, his face would blush like a newly bloomed flower bud. He shook his head and sipped on his tea, erasing the image of the arrogant yet alluring alpha in his head, and just focusing his attention on the taste of the tea served to him by Steve.

The executive secretary broke the silence, "The chairman was having his morning check-up, so please be patient, young master Knox."

Knox almost spit out his drink after hearing how the older man addressed him. He coughed many times; a hand holding a napkin appeared before him and without looking up, he took it and wiped his mouth. "You don’t have to call me that way, Sir Steve. I’m no longer young, anyway."

"You’re still young."

Knox’s body stiffened. He slowly looked up and realized the man standing before him was none other than the chairman himself.

Chairman Nathaniel dropped his gaze at Knox and added, "You’re just twenty-four years old, aren’t you? At that age, Athan still cries about stomach aches and horror movies."

Silence reigned over them again.

Knox was unsure how to act, nor did he have something he wanted to bring up himself. If the chairman declared that he was his son, then, shouldn’t he be the first one to explain?

Chairman Nathaniel turned away. Knox thought that he was dismissed already, so he bit his lower lip and dared to stand already. However, the chairman sat on the opposite chair instead, took the teapot, and gracefully poured tea into his teacup.

Like a true nobleman, his etiquette was impeccable, only when he wasn’t so enraged. Knox swallowed the lump in his throat. He suddenly felt embarrassed picking up the teacup and drinking on it again.

He knew that the Horace Family was of noble descent, but he had never thought deeply about it, seeing how Athan acted like a commoner sometimes. Now, facing the chairman sporting a peaceful visage and calm demeanor, he was proven how high the gap between their statuses was. He couldn’t even imagine how his omega father caught the chairman’s eyes.
