Chapter 57: Trapped by the devil [5]
But before Knox could step away, firm hands wrapped around his wrist and stopped him. He looked back, baffled.
Azrael wasn’t looking at him but to his fiancée instead. Diva pointed at herself, dumbfoundedly. Azrael grimaced, "Yes. Get out. You’re imposing on me too much."
"I’m here because of the reporters in my house and it’s your fault!" Diva protested. However, her finger pointed to Azrael was snatched and she got dragged to the entrance door, "What the hell, Azi! Why do you keep dragging me everywhere?! Damn you, I’m wearing a robe! At least, let me get dressed!"
The two kept bickering at each other while Knox stood there uncertain what to do next.
"Then, go ahead and get dressed, and leave!" Azrael shouted. He grabbed Knox and dragged him upstairs. Knox struggled at first, but as he looked down from the stairs and met Diva’s disgruntled face, he stopped.
Knox hadn’t explored the rooms on the second floor yet, so he didn’t know where Azrael would bring him. They entered the closest door to the stairs, and it was a home theater. Once the door was closed, Knox pulled his hand from the alpha.
Knox stayed by the door, and broke the silence, "You don’t have to bring me here. I should just leave. It’s not right for me to be here when your fiancée was downstairs and—
"Haven’t I made it clear to you?" Azrael closed the gap between them. Knox had no choice but to step backward, his back hitting the door. He expected the alpha to push forward once more, but Azrael stayed on his feet, a step away from Knox. "Would I drag her out of my place if I’m ever concerned about that woman? You’re supposed to be a clever one, aren’t you? You graduated from one of the prestigious schools abroad, so why can’t you figure it out faster?"
"I’m not understanding what are you—
"Diva and I were just childhood friends. Our engagement was contractual. If I had the slightest bit of romantic feelings for her, I wouldn’t have dragged this engagement for years!" Azrael shouted frustratedly. "Or maybe our marriage would have been on the way if only you didn’t show your face at my party!"
Knox’s temper was ticked. He shouted back, "Why is it my fault?!"
They’re just circling over the same things again and again, Knox thought. He calmed himself and looked away. Why should he care even if their relationship was contractual? An engagement is still an engagement. A commitment they both agreed upon.
He felt terrible getting forcefully inserted into that bond.
"I came here to ask you to withdraw the case," Knox said after a few deep breaths.
Azrael grimaced. He puffed an air loudly, clearly expressing his exasperation. He turned his back to Knox and answered, "I won’t do it just because you ask."
"But Athan’s company will face losses! The brand’s reputation will be tarnished and investors might pull out once the stock price plummets! You’re a businessman as well, you know how big the damages the brand will incur!" Knox pulled Azrael’s arm and turned him to face him. "Let’s settle this diplomatically and privately."
Azrael’s expression turned grim, "You’re going to deal with this on your own?"
Knox gulped. Somehow, he hesitated even though all he wanted was to help Athan. Azrael dropped his sharp eyes on Knox. His silent stare was intense, pressuring Knox to answer quickly. Knox nodded after.
"Yes," he answered with a lowered head. Due to this, he failed to see the rage that crossed Azrael’s eyes.
The male alpha walked slowly, his heavy footsteps hitting the carpeted floor echoing in that perfectly acoustically designed room. With each step, Knox could hear the sounds of his pounding heart, but he bravely nailed himself in that spot, refusing to avoid Azrael’s scary demeanor.
"Are you willing to do everything I ask for?" Azrael asked, his voice dripping with indignation. When Knox nodded again, a sarcastic smile tugged on his lips. He put his right hand on the wall, next to Knox’s head. Then, he used the left to lift his chin and force him to look at him. "What if I ask you to sleep with me, are you still willing?"
Knox flinched. He tried to avert his gaze and parted his lips to give Azrael an immediate answer. But for some reason, he started calculating the benefits if he just did it once with him.
Azrael growled as he slammed the door. Knox winced at the shock as the loud sound was just right next to his ears. Before he could complain about his violence, Azrael already gripped his cheeks with his one hand, covering his mouth as though he was preventing Knox from uttering any more words.
With a shaky yet bitter laugh, the alpha pronounced, "Damn. You. Knox Arden. You’re so willing to do everything to help that bastard even thinking of selling yourself just for his f*cking sake!"
Realization dawned on Knox. His hesitation was misunderstood. He pulled Azrael’s hand down forcefully and yelled, "That’s not it, Azrael! Athan and I are si—
His words were sealed by another pair of lips diving down at him. His voice was muffled and drowned in the intense kiss Azrael gave him. It was rough and pushing, as though it carried a heavy sentence, a punishment for a sin he was unaware he ever committed.
When Knox’s lips were freed, he panted for air like someone who almost drowned and was saved at the last minute. He hadn’t even recovered yet when Azrael’s figure loomed over him again.
A voice as loud as thunder and as terrifying as lightning echoed against Knox’s ears, "Don’t. Ever. Mention. That bastard’s name in my face again!"
Knox thought that if he nodded, that would be the end. However, he hadn’t even tilted his head yet and his body was already snatched from the floor. He shrieked from his body suddenly lifting from the ground, but soon yelped when he landed on the soft mattress of the bed inside the home theater.
Throw pillows were thrown out of the reclining bed, and it creaked loudly as two bodies suddenly jumped on it. The open blinds on one side of the room revealed the floor-to-ceiling window panes that allowed the golden light of the sunset to pass through and illuminate that dark interior.
The warm light cast over Knox’s face, turning his light brown hair a whitish hue and making his emerald eyes glow brighter. However, in those eyes, Azrael saw uncertainty. His lips that shone from the light were swollen and reddened, and when Knox pressed them together unconsciously only to pop them slowly, Azrael was like a ball of metal exploded under hydraulic pressure.
Knox’s eyes shook. Azrael’s face changed. The omega crossed his hands above his chest and screamed, "Will you let me speak first?! Stop cutting my sentences!"
Azrael ignored him. In his mind, he knew Knox would only bring up Athan Horace and beg him to stop harassing that alpha. He could understand why Athan wouldn’t speak of what snapped his patience, because even though those were his own words, looking at Knox and thinking about it, made him feel awful and guilty.
Knox opened his lips again to explain, but Azrael just shoved his thumb on his mouth. At first, Knox was startled and had the thought of biting it hard, but Azrael’s thumb started nudging and caressing inside, ever so gently and lightly.
His grey eyes hidden from his slightly downcast eyelashes were absorbed in the movements of his tongue playing with his thumb. When Knox bit on it, Azrael’s brows knitted.
Knox spoke with his thumb on his mouth, his words were a bit muffled, "Stop this. I don’t agree with this. Ask me another thing."
Azrael halted. Unknowingly, a small smile tugged at his lips which stunned Knox completely. It was a smile so sincere and contented. Somehow, his heart started to race. He feared that Azrael above him would hear it, so he moved and squirmed under him.
A grunt was heard after, followed by a gruff voice, "I get it. Don’t squirm. I might not take your words seriously if you act this way."
Knox furrowed his brows. He turned his head away, leaving Azrael’s thumb in the air. "What do you want? Tell me now. But don’t ask something like...sleeping with you or else..."
Azrael smirked, his mood lighter than before, "Or else?"
"I’ll kick you where the sun doesn’t shine," Knox answered without hesitation.
Azrael’s smile widened. Knox even wondered if the man suffered from a split personality since his mood changes so quickly. Azrael only bent down and whispered against his lips, "I only want this," he nibbled on Knox’s lips before he slowly and passionately claimed them entirely into a gentle kiss.
’For now,’ Azrael thought before savoring that moment. When Knox responded to his kiss with the same gentleness and honesty, devoid of fear for him as he always does, Azrael’s heart swelled in ecstasy.
