Bride To His Darkness -
Chapter 81: Finally Leaving
Chapter 81: Finally Leaving
The hunter, who was unaware of the trap that had been laid for him, stayed up late while sharpening his sword for tomorrow’s journey. Most paths haven’t been safe lately in EmptyHollow, so it was crucial they were all armed and prepared as no one knew what to expect. The news of the four abducted humans had reached their ears when they wandered into town, and they had their number one suspect on the Vampire Lord.
"Those monsters!"
Continuing to sharpen his sword, the hunter was too deep in thoughts to notice one of the maidens had stepped out from her tent. Lucy was careful to survey the perimeters conscientiously, and after gathering enough courage, she stepped forward, and only after standing in front of the hunter did he notice that he had company.
"What are you–!!"
"Shhh." Lucy hushed him quietly when she sensed he was about to raise his voice, which will definitely end badly for her if his entourage hears it. She placed one of her delicate fingers against her lips, and when he met her mysterious dark almond eyes, the hunter was instantly fascinated as if he had been magically bewitched, and Lucy flashed him one of those pretty smiles before whispering in a sultry voice.
"Can I join you, Dear handsome sir? I’m a little bored on the inside." She winked, hinting at something entirely different, "a brave hunter like you shouldn’t sit out in the open cold all by himself, having a little company would make your night worth more than this, don’t you agree?" Lucy questioned, looking coyly at the huntsman who seemed slightly confused, but then he didn’t have the audacity to drive her away since she had brought herself to him willingly.
"How are you loose?"
"Didn’t you hear? One of your men had to free us so we could eat the meal that you all had kindly brought for us. Do not be alarmed, you all treat me better than how I’m being treated in the Palace, so I have no reason to flee, but then, I have something important to ask, if I may?" She moved closer to where he sat, and the hunter used that moment to study her feminine curves, his eyes taking her from head to toe.
The huntsman who was still in his mask raised an eyebrow at the beautifully curved woman. Although his reaction couldn’t be seen, Lucy could tell from his eyes that he must have a smug smile playing on his lips. She didn’t know her charms were still very effective to this day.
Peeping through the tent flaps, Samantha and the head maid watched as the hunter drew Lucy closer by her waist, making her sit on his lap which she didn’t shy away from doing. Samantha watched her friend with her mouth open in awe, while the head maid wasn’t surprised by one of Lucy’s skilled tactics.
"I came from a Courtesan house but I don’t think I’m that talented enough to woo someone that easily." Samantha whispered to herself, acknowledging Lucy’s attempt and how she was successful in pulling it off.
"Now we wait for Lucy to give us the signal." The head maid noted to herself while watching Lucy smile so prettily.
"Pray tell, what is it you have in mind?" The hunter, who had fallen straight into Lucy’s spell, asked. The scheming maiden glanced at him through lowered eyelashes and said, "it’s about the secret of this desert, how were you able to reach the capitals when its path looks confusing? Are you that much of an expert in finding your way? Hmm?"
"And why are you curious?"
"Because I have the intention of joining your henchmen, I could be the leading henchwoman." She kept her tone low, but her mischievous eyes and the witty smile on her lips couldn’t have charmed the hunter any less. "If you can talk to your fellow henchmen and allow them take us with you, we can be useful in many ways."
"Enlighten me." While the hunter was engrossed in their conversation, he failed to notice Lucy had stolen one of his sharpened daggers, and then the young woman stood up from his legs, whilst letting her hand out for him to take. "It is not something that can be done in the open, you’ll have to take me somewhere more private than a tent." She hinted.
Meanwhile, the hunter who was getting quite aroused due to her manners of speaking and how he got to study her lovely curves foolishly accepted her hand. It had been a long time since he got laid, and it wouldn’t hurt if one of the maidens offered herself as a delightful treat.
This time around, he was the one to hush Lucy up so she wouldn’t alert the rest of his henchmen, and he quietly took her away from there.
Meanwhile, Lucy subtly glanced towards the tent where her fellow maids were peeping from, silently urging them to hurry. After receiving the signal, Samantha and Lucy waited for their figures to disappear from sight before stepping out of the tent.
"Hold on." Samantha remembered seeing the lead hunter keep her parchment and pouch on the table while he was going through it earlier. Silently, she approached the table and opened one of the drawers. As expected, her money pouch and parchment were kept inside.
Quickly grabbing it, she hurried towards the head maid who was waiting for her, and they tip-toed at first until they had made it far enough to take to their heels. Meanwhile, Lucy already knocked out the henchmen and dusted her palms clean.
"Hmph!" Eyeing his unconscious body with disgust, she stepped on him as if he were a carpet she was walking on, and with a satisfied smile, she made her way to the direction where Samantha and the head maid had agreed to wait for her.
When the three maidens finally caught up to one another, Samantha had asked. "What did you do with the hunter?"
"I put him to sleep." She shrugged with a playful smile.
"Who knew your bad habits could someday turn out helpful." The head maid had uttered, and Lucy smiled proudly before they continued to move in the desert. "The horny hunter had been kind enough to give me the easiest route out of this desert, follow me."
"That word is so inappropriate." Samantha mumbled, but then it’s not wrong either.
The three maidens continued to walk and walk for hours without stopping. They had decided not to until they made it out of this desert, and finally they were able to spot trees ahead. As they continued, they managed to find themselves in a Hamlet, but as Lucy and the head maid kept moving ahead, hoping to find even a small carriage that could assist them back to the Palace, Samantha had stopped walking behind them.
"The both of you need to return to the Palace." Samantha finally mustered up the courage to say something to them, whilst the two maidens stopped in their tracks to look at Samantha.
"You’re still leaving?"
"I have to." Samantha tried to reason with the both of them, "I need to find my brother, and I can’t do that if I’m in the Palace. Please, try to understand things from my point of view, this is my only chance to finally leave without getting caught."
"But the night is dangerous." The head maid added in a concerned tone. "Leaving the Palace will do you no good, what if those hunters come for you? We cannot return without you, come."
"I can’t." Samantha shook her head in refusal, her gaze shifting to the few villagers that still roamed the Hamlet. A Carriage passed by them, and Samantha stopped the carriage before smiling reassuringly to both maids. "You two should go now, I have to be on my way."
"Sam." Lucy could not find the courage to stop her friend as she had already gotten inside the carriage, and the two maidens watched the carriage ride off before exchanging glances, not having a good feeling of letting Samantha leave all by herself.
"Should we follow her? I don’t know why but it doesn’t feel right watching her leave." Lucy expressed her concern to the head maid who shook her head. "If we go with her, what help can we offer? I say we return to the Palace and inform Lord Ivan, even I don’t feel comfortable about all of this."
As the two maidens came to an agreement, they continued down the Hamlet. Since everyone was returning back to their homes, it was difficult to find a Carriage that would be heading in their direction, but when they were starting to feel they’d have to trek all the way to the Palace, their eyes lit up with hope when a familiar Vampire Lord approached them on his Midnight-black steed, and his crimson eyes looked between the two of them for one particular maid.
