Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 91: Reclaiming what was his
Chapter 91: Reclaiming what was his
Right inside the hall was a humongous weird looking creature Rhea had never seen in all her life. The creature had the structure of a wolf, standing at an impressive height, its body was covered in sleek, midnight black fur that shimmered with hints of crimson and gold. Its piercing eyes, burning with an intense glow, revealed the creature’s untamed nature.
The most striking feature of the creature was its enormous wings, stretching out from its broad shoulders. These wings were adorned with intricate patterns resembling dancing flames.
"The Inferno Howler." Draven’s eyebrows furrowed.
Rhea, who’d never heard nor seen such a thing before was stunned, "What did you say?"
"The Inferno Howler is a mystical beast with powers of flames and flight. It also belongs to Alina, its like a pet to her."
Alina unexpectedly left her pet behind to guard his Dragon powers. No wonder why she dared to so openly leave the capital city, turned out she left a hidden trap.
Rhea quickly whispered, "This is not good, Edmund will be here soon, and I won’t be able to handle both the creature and him. I’ll lure the beast away while you go get your powers, you have to make it fast."
Splitting up would be a convenient solution in their current circumstances. However, for some unknown reasons, he was not fond of the idea. This formidable creature was not to be taken lightly, but there seemed to be no other option but to split up. Draven, who rarely cared about Rhea, unexpectedly found himself cautioning, "Inferno Howler is not a simple foe among dragons...be careful not to get injured."
On the other hand, Rhea, thinking that he uttered those words out of concern for his own well-being if she were to get hurt, he’d feel the pain, responded nonchalantly, "Don’t worry, I won’t cause you any pain." With that, she swiftly moved away from his direction, she gathered a massive snowball, and hurled it at the beast’s head, taunting, "Hey, big head! Come catch me if you can!"
The Inferno Howler was a mystical creature and a natural predator of ice dragons. Now that Rhea had used snow magic to strike its head, the creature solely focused its attention on her. It emitted a deafening howl that reverberated throughout the hall.
Rhea gulped anxiously as she locked eyes with the enraged creature. Without wasting a moment, she sprinted out of the hall, and the beast immediately gave chase, completely disregarding Draven.
Draven hurriedly rushed into the hall and swiftly made his way through another passageway, where he sensed his powers. Although the hallway was shrouded in darkness, it did not hinder his sense. With each step, he drew nearer to his powers, and his once empty heart began to quicken with anticipation. The closer he got, the more impatient he became.
Draven’s heart raced as he cautiously pushed open the heavy oak doors to the Hall that held his Powers. The room was enveloped in an ethereal glow, a soft, mesmerizing white light that danced and shimmered in the air like delicate snowflakes.
His eyes fixated on his powers, a swirling white light that hung there, untamed and unrestrained. He had been separated from his powers for decades. Back then, it had been stripped away from his Dragon while he was still alive.
Furthermore, because the powers had the ability to absorb the essence of other beings, Alina had left it unsealed and kept it in this Hall for her own use.
As Draven stepped forward, the air around him crackled with anticipation. The Hall was silent, as if holding its breath, aware of the significance of this moment.
He reached out his hand, his fingertips brushing against the invisible barrier that held the swirling powers. However, he halted as the light within the room abruptly shifted, a crimson glow materialized in front of him, taking the form of Alina’s figure.
Draven frowned deeply when he saw Alina’s face appear in front of him, although it wasn’t actually her but a magical illusion she had created. His expression became even darker as Alina’s image extended a hand, mimicking his own pose, and her fingertips made contact with his, emitting a noticeable warmth.
"Draven El-Dezeus," she began, "You have finally discovered your powers in the end. Remarkable."
Draven’s expression grew colder, his pale blue eyes fixed on Alina’s image. Her expression was apathetic, as if she were looking at an insignificant ant to crush. "I have been waiting for you for decades, and now you are finally here," she said. "It must feel good to finally stand before your powers. I do not know how you found the core before me, but..." Alina raised her head, her black eyes locking with Draven’s. "It does not matter, because I am not afraid of you, El-Dezeus. Even if you possess these powers, you are still no match for me. What a pity, and once again, I want to thank you."
At those words, Draven realized something; her image wasn’t just an illusion, but a message left behind for him. She already knew he was coming...
Alina continued, "You have made it easier for me, so I will make it easier for you too. Your power is here, your dragon form is in..."
Draven watched as letters began to magically form in the air, revealing the location where she had kept his dragon form. A place he had never wanted to go, as he knew what awaited him there.
Alina resumed speaking, "Hurry up and fix yourself, and hurry up to reclaim your core, because I will be waiting for you. Just like decades ago, I will bring you down and remove your core." The light in her eyes grew bright as she added, "This time, I will not lose the person I love again." She let out a cold laughter that resounded through the Hall
Draven tightly balled his hands into a fist, and without any hesitation, he waved his hand and destroyed the image. With determination in his voice, he said, "This time, I will be ready for you. I won’t allow you to lay a hand on my core."
Alina’s image disintegrated all over the floor. He stood one step away from his Dragon powers. However, when he reached out his hand, he stopped again. His hand remained suspended in the air.
From the beginning, Alina had always been after his core, she’d even stayed with him for hundred good years, making him believe she was in love with him, while keeping him in the dark. But now, even after another two decades, she was still after that same thing.
Alina’s words repeated in his mind. ’Hurry up and fix yourself, and hurry up to reclaim your core, because I will be waiting for you. Just like decades ago, I will bring you down and remove your core.’
What exactly was she planning this time? Draven’s eyes were like frozen snow, his hand clenched into a fist as he couldn’t see through her plans once again. However, a loud clash suddenly emerged from outside, before he could react, Rhea was forcefully slammed into the Hall, crashing against his back. Draven stumbled forward and collapsed with Rhea landing on top of him.
Without a moment to spare, Rhea swiftly rolled over, suppressing any cries of pain, as the beast pursued her closely. She swiftly turned, bracing herself, and confronted the creature head-on. In an instant, she conjured an ice ball and hurled it at the creature’s face before flipping onto its back. Securing her grip onto one of its massive wings, she refused to let go, regardless of the beast’s attempts to throw her off. Settled on its back, she managed to glance at Draven, who now gazed blankly at his own powers. He remained motionless, showing no interest in seizing them.
"You must be joking! Your power is right in front of you, so why aren’t you taking it? Waiting for some flowers to bloom? Go for it!"
Upon hearing Rhea’s voice, Draven was jolted out of his thoughts and refocused on reclaiming his powers. It didn’t matter whether Alina had intentionally left them for him and disclosed the whereabouts of his hidden Dragon form. It also didn’t matter what schemes and plans she had in store for him next. Draven was determined to regain his powers and his Dragon form, as they were originally a part of him and rightfully belonged to him. If he was to eventually confront Alina someday, he needed to be whole and complete. Every single piece of him had to be reclaimed, without any missing fragments.
Draven extended his hand, his fingertips making contact with the floating light. In an instant, a coldness spread from his fingertips to his veins, then to his heart and soul. Suddenly, his body began emitting white light, he could feel his powers flowing into his body. The entire Hall was illuminated by the chilling light, even reaching Rhea, who was engaged in a fierce battle with the beast. She felt a slight chill and a surge of power coursing through her body, rejuvenating her bones.
Despite Rhea’s struggle with the beast, she managed to tear off its wings with the strength that suddenly flowed through her body. However, instead of blood, the wings transformed into a golden liquid that floated towards Draven. It seemed like his powers were absorbing the essence of the creature. The golden and white light swirled around him, gathering on his head like magical clouds.
When Rhea forcefully removed the wings from the beast, she unintentionally let go of what she was holding onto. As a result, she plummeted to the ground and quickly recovered. The creature no longer posed a threat, as all its power and strength resided in its wings. It lay on the ground, howling and struggling to get up. Suddenly, it also began to transform into a golden liquid and floated towards Draven.
The golden liquid began to slowly seep into his body, the white light around him made him look like an angel descending from Heavens. Rhea watched in amazement, finding the scene to be the most breathtaking thing she had ever witnessed. Draven appeared absolutely stunning...
As Rhea was watching him flow in the air, a deep displeased voice was suddenly heard from outside, "What lowly creature dares to break into my territory!!"
Lord Edmund had returned. Rhea froze for a moment, she then turned to look at the entrance before looking back at Draven. Although, she didn’t exactly know what Draven was doing, but it seemed he was slowly absorbing his powers, and it was obvious he wouldn’t be done anytime soon. When absorbing powers, there must not be any interruption, or else if not completely absorbed, it could destroy his human body and slowly kill him.
She couldn’t allow any interruptions at this moment, she had to stop Edmund from entering no matter what. She’d promised to protect Draven until he found his complete form, and so she would.
