Chapter 34: Bite his head off!

As the cave began to shake and crumble, while Draven fed on her blood, Rhea could feel her body growing weaker by the second, her vision blurring as she struggled to keep her eyes open. Slowly, her eyes closed as darkness consumed her.

When she opened her eyes again, she was being lifted up by strong arms. At first, she panicked, thinking that she was still trapped in the collapsing cave. But as she looked up, she saw the face of the man who had stabbed her and also sucked her blood in the ice cave.

Her heart sank as she realized that he was the one who had caused her to fall in such condition where she felt like she’d die from the pain.

"Let go of me..." she managed to croak out, her voice weak and raspy.

"I’m getting you out of here," he replied, his voice surprisingly gentle. "The cave will collapse anytime soon, we need to leave."

She wanted to protest, to tell him that she didn’t want his help. But as she tried to move, she felt a sharp pain shoot through her body, causing her to cry out in agony.

Without another word, Draven continued to carry her out of the cave, his strong arms supporting her as they made their way out of the collapsing cave. Despite the pain she was in, Rhea couldn’t help but want to get away from him, she didn’t want to be anywhere close to this dragon who had heartlessly stabbed her and fed her blood to the point of unconsciousness. She hated him to the bones. But for now, all she could do was focus on getting out of this cave alive first.

After that she would get back at him with double the amount of pain he’d caused her.

Sila sat on the riverbank, anxiously waiting for Rhea and Draven to return from the cave. She held on tightly to Rinus’ hand as she waited for their return and was getting increasingly worried as the minutes ticked by. The couple had been in there for almost half a day, she didn’t know what was keeping them this long.

Suddenly, she heard a loud rumble and noticed the water in the river starting to swirl. Sila leapt up and stretched her neck. Her eyes widened as she realized the cave was collapsing! Sila’s heart pounded in her chest as she scanned the river for any sign of the couple. Her Rinus’ recovery depended on those two, they couldn’t die yet.

"Rinus wait right here let me go and see what is happening. I will..."

Before Sila finished her statement, she noticed a mysteriously handsome man suddenly appear from the water. With dark hair, still damply stuck to his perfectly sculped features, he exuded the radiance of a celestial star, however with a chilly coldness in his aura.

Sila furrowed her brows at the unrecognizable man, looking down in his arms, she noticed him holding a frail figure in his arms. Rhea, who looked to be in a terrible condition. Who was that? And where was the man who’d promised to cure Rinus?

Sila ran to them, relief flooding over her as she saw that Rhea was safe, before looking up at the man.

"Who are you?" She demanded from the man, with her hands getting ready to attack if it turned out he was a bad person.

Since Draven had already retrieved his essence, Jurian’s essence had now completely faded, making Jurian’s illusion people saw in Draven also disappear as well, at the moment, whoever looked at him would see the face of the real Draven. However, Rhea who knew this turned to Sila and cried out, "Help me Sila, this man is evil he killed my husband and made the cave collapse!"

Hearing Rhea’s words, Sila’s expression turned murderous, black scales began to appear on her face, her serpent form threatening to take over, "Let go of the girl right now." Her voice was dangerously low as she gazed at Draven.

Draven didn’t try to explain himself to Sila and instead dropped Rhea.

Rhea, who had been dropped by Draven, hit the ground with a thud. Despite the ensuing pain shooting through her buttocks, she immediately scurried over to Sila, seeking refuge. Rhea’s plan was to let Sila avenge her by destroying this evil dragon. With her current condition, she wouldn’t be able to fight him. But this serpent would easily deal with him.

Suddenly, Sila underwent her transformation and took on the form of her serpent, lunging towards Draven with her head up readying to attack. Just a single dose of venom from her would be enough to kill him.

As Draven dodged her attack he shot Rhea a glance, "Tell her I didn’t try to hurt you, and I’m your partner." He said with a tone of command.

After much contemplation, Rhea came to the realization that she couldn’t attain true happiness in her life. Reflecting upon all the painful betrayals and suffering inflicted upon her by this man, she finally grudgingly said,

"You did manage to betray me, inflict immeasurable pains on me, you nearly sucked my blood completely dry. And now that you have finally obtained what you desired, you wish to make a triumphant comeback and command me to tell her you didn’t try to hurt me?"

Draven didn’t reply and dodged another attack from Sila.

Rhea continued, "I know right from the start you never saw me as a person, oh I forgot, you’re a creature that has no heart to feel one’s pain. For the pain you caused me, I will let you experience double of it. Sila, bite his head off!" Rhea yelled towards the serpent.

Draven clenched his teeth,"I didn’t take your freaking life! Tell her to stop right now!" He bellowed.

Rhea scoffed, It turns out in this idiotic dragon’s eyes, sparing her life was a huge favor!

Could he be any more shameless, harming someone and then wanting that person to help out? Furthermore, with such commanding tone...

Rhea smirked, "I see, you weren’t taught by your mother the principles of life. If you want someone to do something for you, you don’t have the right to use such tone on them. If there is no one to teach you that, I will gladly do so today! Go down on your knees and beg me."

Draven laughed coldly, "You sure have no manners, little girl."

Before Rhea could speak again, Draven spoke to the serpent, "I look different because I have retrieved my essence, I have the powers to cure your Rinus."

Hearing his words, Sila stopped and swiftly turned towards Rhea for confirmation of what she had just heard. Rhea, meanwhile, was consumed with anger and frustration, which she visibly displayed through clenching her fists and gritting her teeth. These emotions flashed across her face, revealing the depth of her hatred towards Draven.

Rhea wanted to deny Draven’s words, but then she suddenly saw a flash of him being stabbed by Alina again. She experienced the pain all over again. Rhea clutched her head as she shook the images out of her head. However, she could hear the sound of Alina’s laughter in her head. An unknown pain clutched her heart. Anger, helplessness, the feeling of being betrayed, she felt it all.

They were all his pains...

Why was she experiencing his pain? In what way were they connected? She wasn’t even born when those events took place yet she was the one being hunted by them now.

Even though she wanted to deny him so badly, she wanted him to suffer in Sila’s hands for what he’d done to her. However, she couldn’t. Her heart felt too uneasy, she couldn’t do it. His pain was all too real for her to handle.

Rhea indifferently said, "He’s right. Don’t hurt him." Though she said those words, she still glared at him with hate in her eyes, before turning to walk away first.

Sila transformed back to her human form and looked at Draven up and down before looking towards Rhea who had started to walk ahead. She could tell something had happened inside the cave. But she knew with the hostile atmosphere between the couple, it would be best not to ask any questions at the moment. However, she couldn’t help but still wonder; How could that hideous man chang into such a handsome man?

Sila took Rinus’ hand when she saw Draven had also followed behind Rhea.

As they walked, Sila couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this mysterious man than he was letting on. But for now, she was just grateful that he’d soon cure her Rinus.
